Nostalgia is wonderful but I am never ever buying another bike I owned when I was younger, you move on, you buy bigger more powerful bikes, it is the way of things & there is a very good reason for it.

Ok, I may have lied a little bit when I wrote the above quote because.....

[img][/img]

However, this is my first bike, the actual one! Looks a bit different to when I sold it.
Long story short, I sold this to my brother for his lads, I had assumed he had sold it on but he had kept it Cool

And now it's back with me Dance

Another pic.

9599 miles, it's barely run in Laughing

So, looks like the 80mph project may be back on!

Can't really get bored & sell this one, can I?

It's running, a bit smokey, premix & auto so lots of oil on the garage floor Laughing

Just need new tyres, brake shoes, a number plate & a few bulbs then we're off to the mot station.

It's got no wadding on the baffle at the moment so it sounds a bit rorty.
It has Castrol power 1 in the 2t tank & I think Motul 2t oil premixed with the fuel, smells a bit strange Laughing

The finest rattle can paint job (no expense spared). Just need a go faster stripe along the tank to hide the join between the red & white & this was the only angle I could find where you can't quite make out the filler & dents I missed
Laughing
Ooh & I also need a pair of Kawasaki stickers, just to set it off.

Apparently, allegedly & according to my suppliers........ the speedo cable for my kc100 has 11mm fitments either end.

This isn't true, if you want a speedo cable for a kc100, look for a Honda h100 speedo. 11mm speedo end, 10mm wheel end.

Anyway, having fitted the bloody thing I took it out for a test run.

60mph! Now assuming the speedo is say 10% off, I'm happy with that. What I can't understand is I used all the same parts, from the same parts supplier to rebuild the engine on this one as I did the last one I built in a previous thread (which managed about 55mph if I remember correctly), so is it just down to speedo calibration?

There is no porting on this engine, nor was there any on the other. And carb is original as before.

Any ideas?

I've had bikes (And cars...) that should be exactly the same but for some reason one was faster than the other? With ARs the casting of the barrel can vary significantly especially on the transfer inlets from the casing making a difference..

On the KC I wouldn't know ..

Surely its not something realky simple like you have a larger front / smaller rear sprocket? Presume the same spannies? Pig
