Hi all I am an old rider of the MVX who has found another bike after 24 years later. I bought the bike as a cheapy for my wife (on ebay) to learn on but have fallen in love with it again. I ride it knowing that the centre cylinder wants to carve its self out so try to stay under 7000rpm but when you work out the power band she sounds so sweet pushing beyond. Quite amazinging as the bike has 56000+ on the clock and I m not sure it has had a lot o tender love. Would love to make contact with Alistar as I am thinking to get this bike back to show condition, not saying that it is far from it for the kilos. Any way hi to all the different strokers,
p,s I am hoping to find a RG500 insane for myself or a more maybe a more sedate Katana of which I think will help me to live longer as a regular ride.

Hi Tel and mr200r,
I've had my MVX now for 7 years now (I didn't think it was that long!) and in that time I have never ridden it!! Yes, I know it's sacrilidge and I should be burned at the stake! However, I recently got it recommissioned and MOT'd with the help of a new battery and tyres. Tim (StrokerBoy) found the radiator and seat cowls in the right colours in Japan and I took it for it's first good thrapping yesterday
It was bloody great - not much below 5k, but then pulled sweet n' strong all the way (close) to the redline. Nice to see other motorists behind me having to drive through a bit of finest two stroke! Any way, here are a few pix . . . .

Thats good gear if ever I have seen it, how many km's on the speedo?
The only obvious difference between the your model and the model we received down in NZ is all our mvx's all had flush mounted front and rear indicators which seemed way ahead of its time for 1983
Glad see it being put to good use. |

Cheers Kiwi! It's only got 8000 kms under its belt, so hasn't done much (hasn't done anything in the last 7 years!! ) but hopefully that'll creep up if we get some decent weather over here _________________ Bikes: www.diffrentstrokers.com

No idea I'm afraid. They were not an official import in Europe. I doubt there are many as they have a piss poor reputation. _________________ Alastair

Back on the road after a year and 1/2, shredded second gear and selector arm broken, took a while to get a hold of the parts from Japan.
Found an old fella nearby who used to work on all the old RZ's, RG's, NS's etc, he was impressed when saw my old girl.
He wasn't much good on the Atheistics, panel works etc not all that happy but the tuning is spot on, don't think I have ever had her running so sweet.
Also put some pipes on her from a bike with only 7000km from Japan, I am thinking maybe they put restrictor plates in the pipes of the models that landed here in Aus (much like the enduro bikes I used to ride in NZ).
Anyways on the prowl for more parts, will post pics soon.
cheers
