Note to Diary..

Do not remove the KMX air box unless you have to.. Because its a @rse to remove and a total bu@@er to get back on again

This is the offending article - good job it cleaned up ok or I would have stamped on it and stuck a UNI filter on the carb instead..

Funny how simple things sometimes take absolutely ages
Grrrrrrr Confused

Thanks yanw 

It's easy to work on the bike when you strip the side panels, seat, exhaust silencer, inner and outer mudguard, expansion tank, battery, oil tank and pipes, carb, regulator etc etc
.
.
I just wasn't expecting to have to disconnect/remove that lot to get at the airbox.. Kept raining too..

It started as a light bit of a fiddle cleaning the air filter (which besides looking like a horses nob is NLA from Kawasaki) to being almost major surgery by Victor Mildrew lol

Of course I wouldn't have it any other way Wave Wave Wave

Filter is NLA from Twin-Air as well (I think). Wemoto have one listed for the 200, get in quick if you want one.

I only got my Twin-Air as someone on eBay was selling them and the advert description was bad. I should have bought all ten he had and sold them one at a time for twice the price.

The only other option I have seen is to cut one yourself from those flat sheets. Nasty.

Looks like a KMX for sale on ebay has had a previous owner tootling with the air box ... Then losing patience and smashing it to smithereens lol

Think they have fitted a foam filter - then because thats left a massive gap (no air box cover) they have fixed the top undeseat filter cover to the side using one of the air box bolt holes..

How close was I to doing something similar... Grrrrrr Very Happy

Probably a good winter hack for someone at the right price..?

Very Happy Grats Top-shaggy. There are more Javan Rhinoceros on earth than new KMX200 filters.

You could be looking at the last wild KMX200 Twin-Air filter on the planet!

Fitted the full power needle today, the new twin air filter and rejected the carb to suit with a 115 main. Took four or five kicks to spring into life and wayhay took it out for a well deserved spin and its going brilliant. Loads torque and revs our nicely too.

Got a new expansion chamber on its way so I can see me having to play with the jetting again when I put it on. Must have some fun first though.. I'm just a sucker for taking the bikes to bits..lol

Wish the OEM VM26ss float bowl had a centre access cover in the base like on my later VM26 carbs to make jetting the main easier Question may look to see if I can use the later bowl on the earlier carb next week...

In the mean time I've now got my winter biking babe sorted Very Happy
Very happy Cool

Good news, I will watch out for how you get on.

May I ask the #part number for the needle you mentioned?

Thanks
Yan
