Arlurt,

I think you will finish before I do, do you have a lathe and a mill?
I apprenticed as a fitter/turner.

I think the bars on mine are called Ace bars.

Another attempt at a photo, I took loads but they haven't uploaded.
Starts with http
Ends in jpg
And has at the end.

Took the clutch cover off. It all looks original and unworn.

Hi Cal,

You are just up the road from me then. I am in Bradley Stoke.

Glad you seem to be making some progress there. Hope it's just the top end that's seized up and not the bottom end too.
Anyways, once you get her freed up, if you need any help with anything just give me a shout. I don't say I'm an expert by any means, but I can certainly strip/clean carbs, set up points / timing etc
If I can be of any help, just shout amigo.

There's a pic of my bike in this section under the thread called 'Newbie'

Cheers
Paul

Here's a more recent one taken at Aztec West Business Park.

Looking forward to seeing your bike back on the road. Would be good to have another triple owner local.
Cheers

The chrome was shot on my petrol filler cap, so (20 years ago) I stripped it to paint it.

Who'd have thought there were so many bits in a petrol cap!?

Now it's back together I seem to have a couple of springs and screws left, so maybe they were't all part of it after all.

Paul,

Cheers. Thanks for the support.
It is just(!) the lhs piston now.
So, I am hopeful that more cleaner/penetrating spray will sort it.
The bottom end is free.
The initial plan was to get it running and clean it up.
There are some really good bits under all the crud.
There are some not so good bits too. So time and money will tell.

I wish I could get the photo's to work.

Cal

If I copy your image address (as shown above) and paste that into my browser's address bar, it just shows me a Photobucket error page. So it's the address that's wrong, not the way you've posted it.

Hi Cal,

Try copying the img code from photobucket and then paste that into a post. That's what I do and it seems to work just fine.

Hoping to hear soon that the Lhs piston has decided to free up for you.

Keep in touch
Paul

Hi Cal,

I did a "Craft" apprenticeship as well, a long time ago.

I've got an old Grayson model engineer's lathe, probably 1940s I think. It'll swing about 5" and about 18" between centres. It's a bit rattly but good enough for the bits that I do.

Slowly making progress, Fork sliders stripped and repainted. I had a hell of a job getting the old fork seals out, eventually had to drill and punch them in on themselves to get them out.

Tonight I've had the soldering iron out with a bit of old coat hanger to weld up a crack on one of the side panels. Seems to have gone OK, a bit of filler and another rub down and it will be ready for paint.

Good job that man!

I took the side cover off to try and bar the motor over to force the lhs piston free and happy days it looks like it is the first time that it has been off and everything, (for once) looks OK!

And I am posting this from a laptop and it previews OK too!!!

I think the problem might have been posting picture from my mobile, as I seem to be able to post them from the laptop.

More cleaning to do....

Thing is most of it is there, and most of it is original, so I hope to keep it as original as possible.

Pleased to see work is underway Cal.

The clutch looks good, have you been able to free off the stuck pot yet?

I was lucky that mine can't have been stuck that hard. It wouldn't rock free in gear, but did free off with a socket wrench on the generator nut.

Good luck with it.
