Consider myself very fortunate to be the proud owner of this, a TA125 replica which has been meticulously built over many years ... and will be run at future events including Classic Track Days in 2014 (I hope, needs silencers!)... been looking for the opportunity for years, have a soft spot for this model because my late father helped a guy when he raced one in 1974 when I was an impressionable teenager hanging around paddocks and it stuck ...

Stunning bike- I bet the powerband is razor thin! Can only imagine how it handles. Very Happy

Luvverly.......took me right back to my teens when I used to salivate inside Derek Chattertons Yamaha dealership when I lived oop North in the 70's, prodding the tyres on his TZ racebikes. Bought an RD125 from him, & in my mind, that was me taking Dave Potter on the outside of Barn Corner that was....... Rolling Eyes

Thanks for comments, the old MZ looks real agricultural sitting next to this but I still luv her!

The TA was a road modification which was based on the forerunner of the RD125. The RD200 is an evolution of that motor, this bike is based on a RD200 , eagle eyed will spot she should have black plates but greens give the game away.

Very nicely done, I know this isn't Classic Racer website however seeings the TA Rep is a derivative of a road bike thought it would be interesting to DS members.

She has hydraulically formed Fahron pipes that are beatiful.

Managed to contact someone that can provides a PVL ignition with rotor made to fit the RD crankshaft - replacing the total loss system in place currently. I swear by PVL, the MZ has been brilliant over the past 7 years with no maintenance and always starts.

The bike has a brand new effectively unused set of 28mm 4LO's but I am looking for 24mm Mikuni's to suit the revised setup ... if anyone fancies a swop.

I need a RD200 crankshaft - a knackered one - buy or borrow for machining and matching the PVL rotor taper if anyone has one knocking around!

Found that the forks are pitted and cutting seals also wouldn't pass scrutineering so sending stanchions for grind and re-chrome. Couldn't identify the forks despite lots of research and close up inspections of fork legs of various makes and models on-line (whatever did we do before the net). Looks like fork bottoms have been modified quite professionally which is part of the ID problem.

So, Andy Bacon making a nice set of silencers and PVL ignition on the way ... should be done by Christmas with a following wind .... I'll regret saying that I guess ....

Drooling over that TA rep again - but i still don't know where you are going to fit that fishing basket let alone your rods & keepnet.

Sent the forks off to piitedforks.co.uk (A M Philpott) and received them back today (less than 2 weeks) and a superb job, they ground out the nasty yoke wear marks and a deep bright chrome like new ... ready to reassemble next week!

Obtained seals from Simply Bearings from dimensions as I couldn't ID the forks, next day delivery for no charge.

Just received pipes back with TZ style silencers fabricated by Andy Bacon who made the pipes originally - made a super job. Andy is a lovely guy and a craftsman.

A number of workshop hours later plus consuming some brown printed paper thingies the TA Rep is virtually ready to go ... testing at Cadwell very shortly so either it will either be well sorted or being rebuilt ...
