Gearbox I use Silkolene, Rock and Shell
Two stroke - it depends
I have used Silkolene Semi Synthetic for years doing more than 20,000 miles on an AR and never had a problem. That said on the highly tuned ones I use fully synthetic Silkolene. I used to use Castrol Power until they had a problem with water in the oil. I have also used Motul fully synthetic in the past with no problems on tuned bikes.
So budget ride - Silkolene Ride semi synthetic is fine (£29/four litres eBay delivered)
Tuned AR - Silkolene Ride fully synthetic (£39/four litres) or race fully synthetic £50+/four litres) approx
In the end get the best you can afford .. Years ago we used to treat them to chip fat and they seemed to go just fine

cheers ts, will get some ordered.
Do you have any experience with the ebc clutch plates and springs? I have ordered both having heard good things about ebc, just no knowledge about the being used on the ar. |

I use the EBC plates and springs on my tuned ARs and they work well.
The springs are stronger than the originals
For me they are a little expensive...but worth it in the long run!

clutch is alot better but I am now in the market for a clutch basket.
Mine and my spare is excessively notched, will post pic in a sec. |

How is the clutch housing?
Play can develop in the clutch housing.
This may be causing knocking / rattling of the clutch rather than it being the plates... In fact this may have helped the plates wear into the housing..
Clutch housing, part number 13095 on diagram below has a rubber damper between the outer and inner face. It is sandwiched between the front gear face and rear clutch plate holder and held in place by approx five or six rivets.
The rubber damper wears out and play develops causing a rocking motion when the clutch is idling. This makes a clanging noise which goes away once you give it a few revs.
It's common on many AR125s and in the main does no real damage -generally it's just annoying. I'm wondering if this has exacerbated the wearing or notching of the housing by the clutch plates?
The rubber damper is not replaceable / serviceable unless you know an engineer that can remove and replace the rivets.
Alternatively you need a replacement as you suggested etc

The housing sits tight on the shaft/spline with no movement that I cold tell.
The clutch sill works ok, i can just hear and feel a little bit of drag.
I have seen a few on ebay but whether they are up to standard is a different story. |

can anyone post a vid of their ar125 with the engine running in first gear with the clutch pulled in, if possible giving it light revs then let it drop off.
I need a comparison point, I cant remember how it is supposed to sound anymore haha |
