Yes there is, there's a lot of land behind. There's no way of making it any wider though, or creating access to that land other than through the garage. So there'll always be something in the way of something else.

Of course, I could demolish the garage altogether and build a new double-width double-length one in the back garden instead. But then we'd have bought the wrong house... Rolling Eyes

I have to rent some space at a pals workshop ... too much for the garage. I do occasionally temporarily occupy the conservatory for winter ... I have a very sympathetic wife ....

Just as well you didn't get any of those properties Tim - bars, pool tables and hydraulic lifts all take up valuable bike storage space Laughing . Still, the 2500sqft workshop would have been handy though. Nevertheless, glad you got something 'better' than your previous property.

You misunderstood me SB, I meant a small wooden/tin extension to house all the parts, panels & DIY crap etc you mentioned.

It all takes up room that you could use for more bikes Laughing

Yeah Howie, there's plenty of space for a separate shed. Maybe that'll happen sometime. We ended up with 3 at the last place...

The key is to store everything off the ground and so maximise floor space for parking - or working on - bikes. I've boarded out half of the roof space and stashed a lot of bike parts up there. I've also built the world's least-straight 16-foot shelf, but it's strong and it allows 10 crates of assorted DIY crap to be stored out of the way.

The Mini's in there with 9 bikes, and it feels pretty usable. Don't forget that 4 of our bikes are Gags, which helps a bit. Laughing Once the wife's got her studio built and her pile of boxes have moved into there, I'll retrieve the 3 remaining bikes from the unit.

Had a couple of hours to kill this morning, couldn't leave the house though. Let's see how many bikes I can get running...

KR250, no.
SDR200, no, add some fuel, tap starts leaking.
NSR50, starts after a dozen kicks.
350LC, second kick.
Back to KR, still nothing.
SDR again, no, still leaking fuel.
KS80, yes once I'd stuck some fuel in it.
RB50, needed fuel, still wouldn't start.
KR again, backfire only.
SDR again, still dead.
750RK, on the button.
RB again, starts ok this time.
Hornet, just spins until the battery dies.
The other KR, starts easily.
Try bumpstarting the first KR, nothing.
Try bumpstarting the SDR, nothing, although it's still pissing fuel.
Right, that's 6 out of 9.
Try the old Mini, starts fine.
SDR again, coughs, then runs but spurts a pint of oily fuel all over the Mini. Mad
KR again, a few more backfires then it starts.
Finally, once the Hornet battery is half-recharged, it starts immediately.
So, 10 out of 10.
Start the wife's car plus my van to complete the set.

There's also a TDR80 with a hole in the tank, another KR with no engine, and another KR that has never run, so those 3 are excused for now.

Still think fewer bikes is the way to go.

It's getting there. It's a long way away from what I want, but for now I can at least find my tools. Got 10 bikes in there plus the Mini. I could fit the last 2 in too, but I'll wait until my wife gets her shed/studio/den and moves her stuff out of the way.

Longer term, it wants completely gutting and a new bench building along the back wall instead.

Stripped the MZ that I managed to frag at cadwell in June at the Classic Trackday. Seems the big end was on the way out and wear ( we are talking mm rather than microns) allowed the piston skirt to touch the flywheels on down stroke snapping it off with nasty results. Miraculously the barrel was fine but the frags damaged the piston on the way out of the exhaust port. I didn't fancy having to revisit my porting efforts ... you can still see hone marks after 12 years hard running all year round so can't complain. Think top notch full race synth oil has helped.

So, sourced a race builtt crank with nice rod and etched keyway mod, new TS250 piston and other parts ready for the rebuild.

Had a sort out today and found some NOS stuff I had forgot I had.. winner
Soon be New Years resolution time and one of them has got to be getting back on the bike projects.

I've done the stop smoking and lose some weight skits... now for something less healthy (at least on my wallet..ahem). Maybe a little less FB too. But im not giving up my favourite tramp juice, not just yet.

Wishing everyone here a great Xmas.

I really should sort out my photobucket too.

Lost the love for bikes the last few years.
No real interest to ride or fix them, so much so that I've sold most of them, and plan to shift some more in the New Year.
No idea why I've lost interest. Age/time/weather/health, who knows.

I've had the little Gamma in mid restoration for 5 years or more, with little being done until recently, only because I'm fed up with it being in bits.
So I've pushed on with it over the last couple of months, and hope to complete it for the spring. Maybe this one will bring back the love.

Anyway, as Topshaggy says, I'm wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
