Many thanks for the props!! Good luck on the hunt for red gamma parts Bit. I'm struggling to find a decent red mk1 pillion rider seat. Won't ever sell the solo cowl, but would like to be able to ride 1 up on those rare occasions.

Ordered a new clutch side gasket, should be here next week sometime. Couldn't find an OEM grade gasket, so I just went with another cheapo Athena repro. Hoping to have her road worthy just in time for the winter to move in Rolling Eyes

Got the gasket in last week. I had already pulled the cover and began cleaning it up. Cleaned the mating surfaces really well to get all the old RTV off. Also went ahead and bought some copper RTV, which is the highest temp rating and made for waterpump rebuilds.

I had some gas overflow from the right carb, so I'll be pulling them back out to take another look. Maybe go ahead and replace the float needle/seats. Now that I know she's in good health with no major issues - I'm going to do my first round of detailed cleaning. She should clean up really well, but I have already noticed a couple more 'beauty marks' while pulling the fairings..

Here's her current state for a while. Will take some good photos of the before/after. Most excited to get all the nasty speckled overspray off the tank

Back after a longer than expected hiatus Embarassed I've had some bigger irons in my fire to clear out before getting back to this little beaut. Been working on getting all my parts from my last purchase packed and shipped to my buyer. With all 5 pallets of parts loaded and shipped out I'm getting a bit more time(and space) to focus on all the other projects.

Nothing too exciting to post on, but figured it'd be a good way to spur myself on. I did buy carb rebuild kits for the Mikuni's. I'll pull and rebuild them once I get to cleaning up the engine. Started clean under her dress last night. Didn't get too far, finally a step in the right direction though.

She's begging for a spit shine;

Dirty pipes..

Coming along nicely, keep at it! I'm hoping to get a day's work on mine this weekend. With Spring here AND DRY WEATHER Party I've turned my attention to fishing. I could do with a wet weekend to make me hide in the garage.

Out with the olds, in with the freshies!

Forgot my tamper proof torx bits back at the garage with the subaru. Brought them home tonight and got the right carb buttoned back up.

half way there

Still a long way to go here haha.. I've convinced myself to get fresh clutch bits before closing her up again.

My posts don't feel worthy after drooling over Straycat's rebuild thread! I do enjoy reading back over my past projects though so I'll keep on rambling here..

Clutch plates and springs made it across finally

Pulled the olds off, cleaned the steel plates, and reassembled. EBC springs were a bit taller than the worn stockers, made reinstalling them a wrestle. Strong armed them in, luckily no cross threading and all were torqued down.

Front friction plate was a bit burnt, nearly no meat left on the bone..

Clutch together and functioning correctly. First pull of the clutch lever and realized I'm going to have to work on my grip strength! Those heavy duty springs are on the stiff side

Cover and gasket on. I went with a skim coat on each side of the gasket with RTV copper. Let it set for a few minutes, then finger tight on the cover's hardware while eating dinner, then final torque

After a quick wipe down

Clutch feels great, will refill fluids after a few precautionary days for the rtv to cure fully. After a quick test with cover on everything engages and disengages as it should. Next on the list is to drop/flush the rad and spit shine the rest of the engine/front end

Many thanks guys! I've been telling myself I need to print and make a book of all my project threads. So many good memories flood back when reading over what my 5+ year younger self was rambling about.

Currently working through my Subaru swap so moto's take the back burner for a bit. Having my daily/workhorse GS500 helps me cope with no having the RG to twist up.

Still cleaning every spare minute I get. Pulled the rad and spit shining the hard to reach spots. Such a beauty! Can't wait to hear her sing again soon

Patiently waiting for me to finish her bath, refill the fluids and give it a kick.
