Project RG250, started as a regular Canadian edition '87 Mk3, will be a Walter Wolf when done. I got a complete set of extra bodywork and tank, so I can 1 have spares and 2 i have the option of doing the original colour scheme later if I decide to buy extra wheels and seats.

some of my other bikes....

Hi, yes the red wheels paint is from a rattle can. its just VHT Brake Caliper paint in Red with VHT Caliper Clear Coat on top.

stuff is very durable and a perfect match.

goes on beautifully, you cant tell its a rattle can job.

I did my FZR400 wheels with VHT Wheel & Rim paint too.

here are the FZR wheels...same approach for the RG wheels, except I removed the rotors etc when i did the RG since it was a colour change from white to red.

some times you can use a deck of cards when painting the wheels, other times its too tight a fit between the rim and the tire so you have to mask it...ive done both

I have 2 options withthe exhaust silencers, the originals were a pretty banged/rashed up (see the first pic in the thread at the top) so I ended up with pretty clean used set that came with the bike, and a set of new reproduction aluminum sleeves that go on the stock cans.

Pipes are cleaned and painted (Tremclad high heat gloss)

I stripped the old aluminum sleeves off, blasted and painted the old cans and riveted on the new sleeves. No picts of the finished result yet, but they do look really nice...here are the in progress shots I have handy...

cans stripped and painted (Duplicolour high heat manifold paint)

new sleeves ready to rivet on (protective film left on till theyre riveted)

Nice work.
Looks like it's come a long way since Silverstrom had it.

LOL, yea, it's still taking me longer that I'd like though.

I think I'm Silversrom's best customer Smile he's a stand up fella', glad to have him as a friend.

That card trick is a fantastic idea, never seen it before. I can't make my mind up about the colour scheme on my 250 resto. I like the two tone blue and white scheme in your first photo but getting the decal kit for that version seems the hardest bit. Ultimately I will probably put it back to the factory colours of the early Mk3 (Martini-ish style if you know what I mean). Great work by the way, thanks for sharing it.

Thanks Wizbit, I have 2 complete decal kits for the original double blue and white. They run at just over $200 with taxes & shipping to buy new, Id sell one of mine to you much cheaper, if your interested PM me.

I got 2 sets because im anal retentive, one set for the main bodywork and a second set because I always have a complete set of spare bodywork for my vintage bikes.

Then... I changed my mind on the colour scheme and went Walter Wolf.

hence i have 2 sets of spare decals, one of which i will never use

Straycat,

Can you let us know where you got the WW decals and how much they were?

Did you do the paint yourself? What did you use for the WW blue?
