We AR Owners don't mind sharing this site with other classy birds.. If only their owners would share their bikes it could be more cosmopolitan on here

I had to knock the petrol cap open through petrol tap hole.

They said the tank might need cleaning out, Shocked

I am using the electrical process which I have done before on my r1z with great success.

nice.

I have cleaned the carb out and it fired up 4th kick.

I've always fancied trying the elect method for tank cleaning, but mostly done it with vinegar.
In the tank pic, is the positive cable in the solution, as I thought it should be the other way round??

Lots of people on here with similar problems, can we persuade you to do a little article in the Technical section explaining how to do it please ? Pray

I hope the tank is ok. They do rot on them and good replacements are virtually impossible to get.

I have followed the instructions out of practical sportsbike mag, remove fuel tap and wash out petrol, block fuel tap hole with blue tack, mix soda crystals with hot water in a bucket and fill tank with mixture. Put negative connection from 12v battery to body of tank then using a mild steel or iron rod submerge into filler neck of tank insulated from tank. connect battery charger to battery and let it fizz for 2 - 3 days. The sdr tank is really bad so I am on the third cycle. As you can see with carb, the petrol has turned to tar, all the inside of the tank is like that and is shiny under the crap.

This is the result after 8hours.

No I didnt get caught short in the garage after a night on the curry this is what came out of the tank with the power wash.

Didnt notice this till the other night, looks like it had a rack welded on to the subframe, notice how clean it is under there.
