Hello all,

I am a new member to the forum. Just purchased a 1987 RG250, Canadian model. Will be looking to pick your brains on where to get all the cool goodies!

For starters I would like to find a single seat cowl and the optional lower cowl. If anyone has any leads, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!
Tim

Welcome Tim

RG 250's are great little bikes.

The seat cowl is pretty rare but you can find a few on yahoo Japan.

Bellypan for a MK3/MK4 is very difficult to find and very expensive.
Most of them are cracked and need repairs done

They do turn up but the "good" ones go for silly money

Enjoy the RG and could you post a pic?
To make sure what model you have

Regards Erik

Hi Tim, Re-pop replica's may be your best bet.

Skidmarx makes a body kit for the RG250, its pretty good too. I have a Skidmarx full set of front and lower fairings (Came with the bike) but I only used the belly pan as mine was missing and I wasnt willing to pay what they wee asking for crappy used ones. Skidmarx are very good fit. you can see my resto thread in this suzuki section to get an idea what the fiber-glass belly looks like:

this started out as a blue and white Canadian bike with a missing belly pan, the solo seat is a genuine NOS item.

for the solo seat, try classic race replicas, Ian is splendid to deal with :

Thanks for the input!

I have a photo from the ad for the bike I just bought, but it looks like I need to post it on a host page and then link it?, right?

I am driving up in a week or so to retrieve it. Fortunately the seller was willing to work around my work schedule and a race we have next weekend....

Who is Skidmarx? Not a user on this forum, right? What additional brackets did you need to mount the lower fairing?

I will check with Ian for the solo cowl. Just bought one from him for my 1987 TZR250.

I read your thread on the resto of your WW Gamma. Very nice! Where did you get the repop silencer covers? And tell me more about that exhaust paint. It looks fabulous![/img]

Yes you can load photos to photobucket and then you can pull from there.

Skidmarx are a UK company that sell reproduction glass. Ian can actually get you that too from skidmarx.

you need 4 different types of brackets to mount the belly

type 1 are clamped to the lower frame - there are 2 of them, one each side
type 2 are "U" shped connectors that attach the belly to the mid fairing, there are 6 of them
type 3 are the common blind speed nuts that allow yo to attach the rear edge of the belly pan to the mid fairing, and connects the left belly to the right
type 4 is a straight metal brace that attaches the front bottom of the "V" - one of them

generally these are not easy to find, (1,2 and 4) they may run you 20 dollars a piece if you find any.

Honestly the Suzuki fairing fastner set up is the strangest I have seen, so many of them and not as simple as it could have been.

Note as well that if your bike came as a half-fairing bike, the Mid Fairings will need drilling (3 holes per side) to mount the belly to. They actually have marks on the back side where the holes go.

Hi Tim, That's my favourite colour scheme and I'm working towards finishing mine in that colour scheme. The bike is currently a an early MK3 but will be finished in the later two tone blue scheme that you have. Mine is a real heap (gradually coming good) but came with all the original panels off various versions of the Mk3. I do love the two tone blue....good luck with the bike!

I like the colors too! Already scored a solo cowl and lowers. Looks like I will have to get them painted to match when they get here. If any body has a lead on the 6 small brackets for the top of the lowers, I am buying!!
