First post-hello everyone.

Recently bought an AF1 Futura, will no doubt be asking for loads of help to work out what, where & how.

Pic from the Ebay advert, tatty bodywork, but 99% complete.

Is that your first venture into two strokes or have you got a garage full?

Please post more pics as you work on it - I was once told that the AF1 was the first 100mph 125cc bike in the UK Question never seen any proof of this though.

Great to have you on the forum Very Happy

Starting my midlife crisis & needed a bike to tinker with, had to be a stroker.

For some reason I like 125s, so it was either an AF1 or NSR RK.

The bloke I bought it off, now HE had a garage full of mental strokers, could've spent hours in there. Shocked

Nice one Wooly, pleasure meeting & dealing with you.

Spent the weekend seeing what's missing/damaged (not much to be fair, but pricey!).
Seems most of the info on these is foreign, starting to wish I'd learn't Italian at school now!

Tell you what though, that Mito has left an impression on me. Shocked

Nipped out on it this morning for a quick blat, forgotten what a laugh it is to ride, the look on a GSXR rider that I had chased across the city was a picture when he saw it was a 125!was fun pulling 3rd gear wheelies out of the rounabouts!

Not sure they ever managed that in a road test, although they got within a gnats of it.

That one is an early Futura and a parallel import. UK ones came in later and while they came in with that early colour scheme they had the later forks (like the RS125) and twin headlights. Few other minor differences as well.

All the best

Hi Keith
I've spent a while finding out what I can about my AF1, luckily my phone can scan & translate off a pc screen, so I now have an owners manual.

I've managed to get most of the bits needed off the bay, but some will have to come from a dealer, should be fun with it being an import and the ID sticker missing from the subframe.

I see you've had a few AF1s, have you had a Futura? Need a bit of help/picture of the seat lock mechanism.

Cheers
Paul

Hi

Owners handbook scans are here:-

http://www.alfa-pages.co.uk/Aprilia/Handbook.zip

The lock on mine is a bit bodged I am afraid. Something I need to sort out.

I do have parts lists for it but not scanned in.

I bought my Futura in 1991, traded it in for my RS125 in 1993 and then bought it back in 2008 when it turned up on Ebay.

All the best

Keith

How's the build going ?
Anymore pics ?

There was a lad in our little 2t club a few years ago with one of those and an rs 125 , need to track him down and see what happened to it ,was his project
But he kept blowing up the rs so never got much done to it
The rs was a fast little thing tho

No more pics yet, I,ve built it up (the fairings were loosely fitted for the Ebay pics), so I think I know whats missing.

So far I've got a new tank for it, the original is holed & weeps petrol, I say petrol, more like a slightly flammable orange fluid!

Also got some fork seals as one is weeping, a lock set, an SP mudguard, some original indicators & a decal set on the way.

Plans are to have the wheels, the subframe & the fairing/headlight bracket powder coated, then repaint the plastics. Mechanically, apart from the leaking forks it's just a service, fresh fluids in the engine, new brake pads & hoses etc, etc...

Sounds like a lot of work when I write it down.

Shocked
