Im having trouble getting my bike to run smoothly lowdown
it seems very rich lowdown ticking over very lumpy & at times stalling
its also very rough until it clears out then runs great
ive set the float level at 17mm
ive got 22.5 pilot jet fitted & needle clip in middle groove
any help will be great

Frank,

When you say "lowdown", do you mean idling only, or at smaller throttle openings also?
When you say "it clears out", does it eventually do this by itself or only when you open the throttle past a certain point?
After 'clearing out', will it then idle properly, or does it always run poorly at idle and/or small throttle openings?

Pending your further advice, some of the following could be responsible:

Choke/starter plunger not sealing/seating correctly
Float needle stuck open
Pilot air jet and/or passage partially blocked
Pilot air jet smaller than standard

Also, can you be sure that the pilot jet is actually still 22.5 and hasn't been drilled out by a previous owner?

Regards,
James
