Yes.

Easy to machine B head to A standard spec.

Skim head by around 0.3 -0.5mm to marker point in casting. This marker is a raised circle in the casting. Skim down to this point. It reduces chamber volume by 2cc.

Some heads on ebay here. One machined see photo 10/11 (not mine)

It wasn't cheap but it's the only one I've ever seen, It's coming from Indonesia !

Cheers for the link for the heads I actually brought them, I'm going to get the (A) head down to the engineering shop and get it fully overhauled so I've got a spare cylinder and head.

The engine dose have to come apart though as the kick start is missing now and again so I need to replace the kick start shaft / gear, probably not a bad idea as she's only done 2000 miles so never been apart, I'll take the opportunity to replace all gaskets that are 32 yeas old.

Now I'm probably going to get shot down on this but if the crank and seals are ok, why not just do the kick shaft, get it together and enjoy.

If you decide to strip and rebuild to make sure then i completely understand. Got the Tshirt.
Look out for the disk valve, rris O ring and OS crank seal as they are getting harder to find now.

If you get stuck for parts, give me a shout and I will see if I can help Thumbs Up

It's all good your not the first person to tell me not to do a strip down and rebuild, Iv'e got a mate who's a mechanic who told me not to bother doing it until something goes, it wont damage the gear box or engine.

So if I open the engine can you recommend what I should replace if anything ?

Re those parts I didn't know they would be difficult to find, i'll add them to the list !

Cheers

The AR125 is not a complicated engine and nothing you wouldnt check / change in comparison to most others. The rare hard to find bits are in the previous post.

Worth using genuine kawasak piston and rings too. Especially with your nos A barrel

I had a post on here somewhere showing differences on early A and B pistons ... but photobucket has probably knackered that

Let us know how your getting on.
I'm not promoting leaving this site but if your on FB it may be worth also checking AR-125 kawasaki owners group.

Its always great to see another little AR being given a new lease of life

Cool cheers for the advice, I'm not on face-book but i'll look into it.

Could you just clarify what the rris 0 ring & OS crank seal are because I cant seem to find them with those names on the parts list, I should point out I don't know much about engines, re the crank seal I know that part but what dose the (OS) mean ?

Cheers

Dont join FB ... stay clear if you can cope without it
Ahem...

OS was offside crank seal. Its larger than the NS one.. near side LOL

The NS is a common seal size.

Watch ebay sellers because they often send 2 seals the same size and the OS one wont fit

The RRIS seal is a large O ring between the RRIS casing (which houses the disk valve) and the crank casings. If your careful you can refit the old one but it tends to expand when removed and you may have to cut down slightly and glue together. Any leak here and the engine either wont run or run lean.

Most full gasket sets do not include this seal - hence not a full set!

If you cant find these parts I will help you out ok.

Everything we've done - this forum, shows, trackdays - is because we couldn't find anyone else doing it and wanted to fill the gap. If there's another resource that does something better than us, we've always been more than happy to promote it over ourselves. In a perfect world, we wouldn't need to exist at all and I could finally have some time to myself. So, by all means, continue to point people at the most useful place to help them out, whether that's Facebook, an alternative forum or whatever.

Thumbs Up
