Hi All
Has anyone used pattern pistons in there rg250 mk3 and if so were they ok and what make? I rang crooks the other day and they quoted about £100 each side for genuine piston ,rings ,pins and clips which is a bit much for me as i am only re-building engine as a spare.
Also has anyone had any problems using pattern gasket sets in particular the head gasket .

Take a look at Ebay
There are pistons genuine ones for sale at 28 GBP each
Or a set for 59 GBP

On another forum a guy from Paris offers RG 250 mk3 pistons.
Maybe a pm for a price?

Hi Wolfman
Bitacticus is spot on, there are a pair of genuine standard size pistons and rings on ebay for £59.99. You can pick up gudgeon pins, bearings etc for a few quid. I looked at getting the 1mm o/s pistons also on ebay but I'd prefer 0.5mm o/s as my motor is still on standard bore.
I looked up cost of pistons on CMSNL and they are 30 euros each but rings are also 30 euros each cylinder so the ebay ones are a fair price if you get them all for £59.99 ( would be 120 euros at CMSNL ) STICK TO GENUINE GASKETS! patterns are not really very good!
By the way I'm quite happy to swap any parts with you, let me know what you might need or pop over for a chin-wag and a coffee anytime you want.
Cheers, Rob.

RGBobby is spot on about gaskets, in particular, head gaskets. Expensive new, but less hassle than doing the job twice!
