I've started the MVX250 re build today. loads of fun fitting the taper bearings and powder coated yokes to the powder coated frame.

New bearings fitted to the swing arm, so that will be fitted next

Just waiting for the engine to come back from being ceramic coated

I take it you are joking? Laughing

I love this part of a rebuild though, after all the dismantling, degreasing & prep to the frame ready for the powder coat, its gravy all the way.

Keep the pics coming fella

Todays efforts

Loom, tool and battery box, rear mudguard and light, both CDI boxes and powder coated grab rails

All fasteners have been re chromed, bright zinc or black zinc plated.

The black zinc is awesome on the case screws, kickstart etc. Pics to follow

next week should see the powder coated swing arm, shock and linkage

Trev45, still waiting for your call Smile

A bit of a set back. A big one in fact. Despite all thier assurances the company carrying out the re-finishing didn't follow the agreement and instructions to effectively mask everything, with the following results. These are the clutch operating arm bearings. With some luck, I do have these bearings in my parts box, and I'm off to see my engineer Dave Hammond on Saturday to use his skills and workshop to remove and replace them.

I'm gutted, not only because of the set back, but also as this delay will probably mean that I won't be finished by the end of this summer.

I will get there in the end

Just recieved £2K worth of more engine spares. Still looking to swap, deal with anyone on this forum

Yeah that's a bugger and a set back Ian, but hopefully the machine shop have done the right thing - or what they can. The bike will be done before you know it too! Smile

Might not seem much, but I have got all my Fork and Brake parts back from ceramic coating, and 1 fork leg is now built with new bushes, seals etc and re chromed stanchions.

Massive relief after the problems they caused with the coating on my engine

Great progress this weekend. I have got my cases back from Dave Hammond who has cleaned the insides and replaced the clutch operating arm bearings. Checked and cleaned the gear clusters and changed the input shaft bearing and assembled into case with new oil seal. Brand new crank fitted complete with new end seals and all bolted up. The Black Zinc case bolts look the nuts too. Well worth getting those plated.

last Pic was a dry run to make sure water and oil pipes fitted OK. I have a week off so its back out in the shed for a bit of therapy

New rear piston and rings fitted along with the cylinder.

I'm still looking for a front Std piston and a set of 0.25 rings. Anyone? I am prepared to swap in your favour. What do you need?

PS the 18mm piston pin is home made as no gen Honda available
