Donington Classic Motorcycle Festival, Aug 2015
We didn't have a stand at this event, but maybe we should have ? As the name suggests, it's a weekend festival for classic bikes, with the accent on racing. The CRMC were there with a full calendar of races, interspersed with parades from both superstars and classic bike clubs. Plenty of famous names were spotted around the paddock, with Freddie Spencer, Ron Haslam, Steve Parrish and Jim Redman the star names. The Paddock Suite was packed with priceless GP machinery including Rich Grantham's ace Honda collection, and the Exhibition Centre hosted a variety of classic bike clubs, including the VJMC, LC Club and Kawasaki Triples. Once you were in you could wander anywhere, and everybody was very friendly and inclusive. It was very hot though. And how often do you see the queue for the ice-cream van part to let an ear-splitting TZ750 pass through ? We might have to pencil this one in for next year...
Big thanks to Rob and Darin of Classic Bike Trackdays for their generous hospitality. They were there advertising their forthcoming Endurance Legends event, which promises to be all of the above and more!
