Well picked up this today and its gone straight into the naughty corner of the workshop..
It's a Suzuki AP50, one owner from new and hasn't been on the road since 1979.. and you can tell...
Its seized and a genuine Barn (read Outhouse) find.
Needs a lot of TLC and will be rebuilt.
Love the tax disk, so that's staying on
Please don't hold your breath for the updates .. They will come in time

I know you like tiddlers but wouldn't have expected that was your sort of thing ? It's not got the K-word on the tank for a start.
I suppose you're a lot older than me though, I'm too young for unrestricted sports mopeds...

Is that a fault of the camera, or is the back tyre realy thinner than the one on my push bike?
As a proper 70's moped, with pedals, I assume it's un-restricted? Should be good for 50mph? The speedo still looks a bit optimistic!
Restoration job is it? _________________ Light is right. |

Thanks Paul. Did they do a green AP50? All the ones I've seen of this mid 70s era seem to be blue or red.. Hmmmm could be the first really rare and exclusive Kork Ballington model that no one had heard of .. (Including Kork..haha) _________________ We are where we are... |

Yes the back tyre is like a push bike tyre, but it looks worse on the picture as its totally flat and come off the rim in transport..
I'm told by the original owner its a unrestricted model and does 60mph.. Hmmm we will see.. (Maybe that's why it's stood seized since 1979 when it was only 3/4 years old ..)
Yes it's got to be worth a resto, if only to pretend that I'm riding it illegally in the mid 70s (as I'm clearly older than TIM..apparently)

Could you imagine 60 on those tyres! Id be tempted to keep the rust and leave the paint, sort the suspension and brakes and get the motor properly sorted for a super quick launch up to 60ish and go around embarressing much newer/bigger stuff!
Imagine the first picture was what pulled up next to you then completely left in a blue haze! _________________ Gagging for it |

That brings back memories , my first bike was a red , R reg AP50 .
ULA 805 R if I remember correctly . It would show 60mph down hill with the wind behind you .
Good luck with the reso.

I agree with GP,
There is something about bikes that have patina
But further to GP's post, I might be tempted to replace the tyres & inner tubes
On a different note was it practical sportsbike that did a 100mph 50cc article?
Go on TS, you can do it sir |
