Funny filler story, i was just a lad and asked the local bodyshop if they had any saturday work sweeping and the like, anyhow i took an interest in what was going on and one day the boss said to me, heres a big tub of filler, go and fill the dent on my old van, so off i went and filled it beautifully, i made it as neat as possible to save work on the sanding and it looked pretty good!
Anyway a few hours later they gave me some sand paper and told me to go out and flat it back, i tried but it just squished up and ruined all my carefull sculpting! Annoyed i went back in and told them what happened and they asked how much hardener i had used, to which my reply was "whats hardener"!!!!! They had a good laugh about that and it still gets mentioned now! _________________ Gagging for it |

When I was in my teens I had a Saturday job washing cars at a second-hand car dealer a couple of villages away. During the holidays I worked in the bodyshop, and did the mundane stuff in the workshop. Happy times, and kept me in petrol for the DT50 that got me about. _________________ Light is right. |

Well the good news is that the crank is now free.
The not so good news is that the lhs piston is a new multi-piece component.
A full engine re-build will now have to occur....
More pics to follow... |

Oh heck! Is the rest of the piston still stuck in the bore?
Plenty of people selling cylinders on eBay, I'll see if I've got a Left Side one that might do the trick. _________________ Light is right. |

I had finally got the piston to move a few mm down, this got it to BDC or almost.
So then I put pressure on the crank nut and it gave an almighty crack..
The rest was still stuck in the bore

So with a bit of brute force it came out.
Multi part piston
Sing this corrosion to me...
Bore score? DOES ANY ONE RECKON THAT IT WILL HONE OUT?

It will hone out no worries
So it will need a full engine re-build.
I will be looking hard for bits at Stafford. |

Well done Cal, a good day's work. I'm pleased you've got all the bits out and that the cylinder looks recoverable.
Makes my bit of filling and painting look pretty poor...
It'll take more filler and more paint to get something I can get away with, even for my rat bike.
Keep up the good work Cal! _________________ Light is right.

On the plus side, it's one of the easier bikes to find parts for, both OEM and aftermarket. There are always several Triples specialists selling stuff at Stafford in October, plus the helpful boys in the KTC of course. Can't remember if they go to the April show, but pretty confident you'll find something there. |

Kawasaki Triples Club. I'm no longer a member but they're very friendly and helpful. They've got their own forum too. |

Hi guys,
A chap called Simon Lister also runs a forum specifically for the KH and S series bikes. Very good for help and advice. Simon also runs the Kawasaki Triple Parts website and can cater for all of your parts needs.
There's also the Kawasaki Triples Resource run by a chap who calls himself mraxl. Everything you ever needed to know.
Cheers
