No progress for a week now, been busy with other things.
Next step is to cut out the high rear shock mount and weld the new one in. It'll have to wait as I heading over on Thursday as well. Let's hope the weather improves! _________________ Light is right. |

Finally got back to the KH250 and did a bit today.
I think something has been nesting under the carbs!
A bit of work to do to get the carbs cleaned up and ready to go back on the bike.
I want them out of the way while I get the new rear shock top mount welded in. I've also managed to find enough adjustment on the end of the clutch push-rod to make the new (Honda) clutch lever work with the existing cable. I was getting worried it would have to be a special cable, but all's well.
The rear shock linkage is stripped as well for cleaning and to re-grease the needle rollers. _________________ Light is right. |

I've finished making the rack for the MV so guilt has forced me in to a bucket of petrol with a brush and the KH carbs. They're de-crudded and looking much better.
One float bowl had obviously had water in it, but recovered OK. The jets and airways all seem clear, I honestly think that if I'd just put petrol in it might have run as it was.
Yeh, I know vapour blasting would have brought them up like new, but that's not what I'm doing. The aim is to get the bike running and legal then decide what the future holds for it. _________________ Light is right. |

And there's more....
I've got round to finishing machining the porous bronze bush that fits in the bottom of the rear shock, which also looks OK.
I can get the linkage bolted up now and weld the top mount in to the frame. _________________ Light is right. |

Rear shock linkage is all bolted up tight, looks good.
I've cut out the old shock top mount and cleaned things up to take the new mount:
It all looks like it should work OK, a bit more refining and then weld it in. _________________ Light is right. |

Welded the rear shock mount in to the frame yesterday, and all's well.
As we all know, the camera flatters our bikes, but I'm still pleased with where I'm at. It's not meant to be a restoration, or a concurs build, just a usable and different bike.
It's great to bring finished parts together, really give a boost to me wanting to get this bike finished.
Wiring still to do, though I now have a battery box solution that carries the regulator, rectifies, battery and fuse box which are all needed to make this work.
Central exhaust mounting still needs sorting out.
Rear brake cable and torque arm to do.
And loads more I can't remember sat here. _________________ Light is right. |

Thanks for your comments guys, they're good for the motivation.
The rear shock bracket has had a quick coat of black paint.
I think maybe it's time to cut off the old twin-shock mounts, I'd been keeping them just in case, but I think the rear suspension is done now.
I've got the battery box done as well so once that's mounted I can fit the regulator, rectifies, flasher unit, and the errr... Battery.
I've had to shorten the rear axle castle nut, it didn't quite go on far enough to get a pin through it. I'll get that nipped up today as well. _________________ Light is right. |

I've done a bit of bridge burning this afternoon.
My twin-shock KH250 is now forever mono-shock.
Been meaning to do it for ages but wanted to be sure the mono-shock was going to work before I made it much harder to put back as it was. _________________ Light is right. |

No going back now, not that there was much chance before!
Still plenty to do, torque arm for the back brake, I need to move the oil tanks a bit as it's too close to the battery box. And I need to remove a bracket or two to get the reg/rec in where they need to go too. And loads of wires to sort out. _________________ Light is right. |

New torque arm in place. It's not meant to be a restoration but I'll have to do something about that OE Kawasaki nut and split pin.
And that brake drum needs another going at. The brake cable is connected up and adjusted. I think it'll be OK for the MoT, but the pedal does hit the exhaust if you give it some.
It didn't look that bad in the dim lights of an agricultural building. Maybe if I blather it all in grease... _________________ Light is right. |

I've done a little more this afternoon.
Oil tank spaced out to give a bit more room for the battery box, and the third frame bracket for the battery box welded in.
When the paint is dry I'll get the battery box mounted, with regulator and rectifier and make a start on the wiring loom. _________________ Light is right.
