Hi Guys n Gals,
just a little update today, after spending yesterday at the Stafford Show.
First of all we have a shot of the Mk1 radiator cover that Shaun most kindly donated to the project.
Along with a shot of the fabulous Kawasaki AR125 T-shirt. I promise to wear this once the project is complete.
Here's how the fairing mounting now looks, after a fair bit of repair work.
Shaun asked that if we decided not to use the radiator cover, then to send it back to him. Well matey it's already fitted!
I then took the mid fairing section.
and cut it down, to make it easier to work with.
I then fastened it to the radiator cover, by the use of a pair of cable ties.
This then allowed me to mark out the edge of the cover, onto the inside of the fairing, so I can then trim it down but that's to follow, as it's time for our Sunday roast.
Anyway the job is showing yet more progress, long may it continue. _________________ Kindest regards

Hi Guys n Gals,
well it was time to have a look at the cracked exhaust mount, so here's the little crack!
And here's the replacement.
And here's a replacement collar I'd got as NOS.
Now, here's the interesting shot, when you see that the original collars were of the wrong size (came fitted loosely to the bike), when compared with the NOS!
So I've ordered a replacement and look forward to fitting it, with better results! _________________ Kindest regards

Hi Guys n Gals,
well she may be different colours but she's almost in one piece now!
Just need to get the exhaust collars so I can re-fit the exhaust, which will then allow me to finish the belly-pan/radiator shroud adjustments.
The indicators are now fully working.
I also added a bit of self adhesive draught excluder, to stop the rear cover from rattling.
Hope you've all had a pleasant, yet productive weekend? _________________ Kindest regards

Great stuff Reggie
I love it when the rebuild starts to come back together
Looks like there could be three different models of AR in those panels (though I suspect you have robbed them off your dad's bike.. haha)
Your lucks the tail fairing is in good condition, the bike can't have been dropped much in its 30 year life. Wow just realised how long ago that is. . No wonder my insurance is pretty low now I'm an old git _________________ We are where we are... |

Hi Shaun,
the nose fairing is a spare one we'd managed to get our mitts on, the fuel tank if from dad's bike and the other panels came fitted to mine!
As for insurance, mine's not a cheap as I'd like but considering I average a reduced 20,000 miles per year on two wheels, then it''s not a surprise then! _________________ Kindest regards

for the boot if it vibrating may want to add some tie straps to bar on the boot lid and put then around the boot frame mines been doing the same and the clips are worn
just incase they fall off the tie straps hold the boot lid on looking good
like the belly pan idea be a good idea if you have a few broke pans and some grills XD _________________ ar125 a1 1983, ar125 b2 1988, ar125 b4 1988, ar125 b7 1991, kinroad xt50q 2011

What I've done in the past is remove the single bolt at the rear of the boot area (which doesn't do much anywa)y... And put a zip tie though the bolt hole and around the rear tail flap hinge. This holds tail flap in place and it can't fall off _________________ We are where we are... |
