|
|
Hi Guys n Gals,
my Dad's bought a set of MacCrane rear-sets for his build of his AR125, into a classic racer and I wonder if anyone here's fitted the same?
I ask because the instructions are basically a list of parts and a couple of diagrams but it doesn't show how you're supposed to install the rear brake, as the mounting plates offered don't have a hole for the splined shaft from the standard brake?
I'm sure someone here must've fitted a set, so any images and details would be most appreciated. _________________ Kindest regards

this is my worry about buying the rearsets without seeing them.
trying to make my own at the minute but can't work out how to fit the break and spring to something stable enough without making the rearset brackets quite big.
hoping to see how this pans out then i can order some. |

I'm sure Dad'll suss it out and, when he does, I'll grab some images for you.
At least mine's gong to be standard! _________________ Kindest regards

Hi Guys n Gals,
well the manufacturers have replied by confirming that you fit the footrests over the top of the original footrest hangers, and they then fit nicely.
I reckon dad was hoping to bin the hangers but there's no way to mount the rear brake pedal and the brake return spring without using them. _________________ Kindest regards

Agree its not ideal - Of course you can cut the hanger down and use it only as a mounting plate?
I'm presuming they did this as the genuine kawasaki exhaust is fixed to the end of the footrest hanger. Some aftermarket exhausts such as micron fixes to the front foot peg hanger too.
I think they should have provided a separate mounting plate as an optional item for people who wanted to fit bespoke / race exhaust. _________________ We are where we are... |

If you find another set that works please let me know too.. NIKKON were thinking of making them but don't believe they ever got around to it.
The MACRANE sets are the only ones available off the shelf ..
They do AR50/80 ones too... Will check them out and see if the same fixings _________________ We are where we are... |

Hi Shaun,
Dad got me to grind down the end of the hanger, to remove the pillion heel plate and he's left the rest as it is, to mount the rear brake spring, the rear brake pedal and the exhaust mounting.
We both reckon there should be proper mounting plates, as part of the kit. _________________ Kindest regards
