Can someone tell me if the motor gaskets sets are all the same for the all models of the AR? I want to take the barrel off to clean out the coolant galleries as it was sitting around with from what i can see no coolant so I'm expecting some scale and rust |

The gasket sets are slightly different for the early model (1982/3/4) and later models 1984-94
Not much in it though.. Seeing your testing the stator, may as well tell you that the generator / flywheel cover gasket is one of them. _________________ We are where we are... |

So my AR is an 87 model does that fall under the later model or early model?
Saw the gasket and I'm going to be gentle when removing it. |

Ok with a whole lot of checking and testing I have come to the conclusion the CDI module is faulty.
Does anyone know where I could get one from or is there other Kawasaki models that use the same unit?

Good call!
I initially thought the rectifier but its outside the ignition section but as you say could pump too much power to the battery charge circuit and in turn overloading the ignitor.
I wil check out the charge voltage before I put a new one in. |

Finally took some pics of the bike yesterday and uploaded them to Flikr. Hope the pics are not too big.
As you can see she is very original with a genuine 459 kilometres on the clock. There is some road rash on the front screen on the left but its not cracked and I will re paint it. The only other damage is a scratch on the side cover which I will clean up when i do the screen.
I purchased a CDI on Ebay so waiting for that to arrive before I go any further.
Let me know what you think! |

Well that's a bobby dazzler as they say round here... Really like the rarer blue white colours
Your lucky to have the front indicator covers on the inner headlight fairing.. Proves the scratches can't have been from much of a drop.. They are missing on most MK2 AR125s
Wishing it was mine !!
Hope the cdi cures the problems _________________ We are where we are... |

Thanks for the compliments. It did look good standing still at the bike shop. Its not just white either its a pearl white which was quite a surprise for the age. If you look closely at the chin there is only one stone chip which is hardly visible which proves the milage is true. There is also the original model sticker on the tank where the seat normally rubs away everything. There is also original stickers on the front screen and tank cap cover. Its a shame they are in Japanese.
I also have a GPZ900R which will make a good pair together.
Still waiting for the CDI so hopefully she will be a goer! |
