Hi Guys n Gals,
a few years ago I managed to become the proud owner of what is likely to be the most quirky bike I'll ever own, the BMW C1 200!
It was the most comfortable two wheeled machine that I've ever ridden and came complete with seat belts, windscreen wiper and stereo! Not to mention a mobile phone holder and charging point!
I bought it as a none runner for £300, fitted a new battery to it, drained the fuel, replaced the spark plug and she ran like a dream, passed the MOT and I ran her for a couple of years until she dropped a valve!
It was without doubt the most mechanically unfriendly machine to work on and, in the end I sold her (with a trashed engine) for more than I paid for her!
I wanted to get a dramatic shot of her so with the kind assistance of the Carlisle Air Museum, I borrowed their Vulcan, as a backdrop!
We also took a trip to Applecross in Scotland!
How many bikes do you know that you can fasten a fully loaded rucksack on the back, ready for use when you arrive on site?
And I even borrowed one of my girls during a photoshoot!
That bike was fun and I took it along to a HUBB event and it was inundated with girls wanting to sit on it. Talking of which, I was stopped by Japanese schoolgirls in Inverness who wanted to photograph it (unless they'd confused the rider with an anime character? _________________ Kindest regards

It's funny but I really like that C1 ... A bit like the Sinclair C5 I've grown to be intrigued by such stuff.
I fear your spoiled by all the photo girls too...
Your aircraft pictures are stunning ! _________________ We are where we are... |

Hi Shaun,
I'll say this, it always left people with a smile!
My mate Ged was the best though, he'd got a brand new Suzuki DL1000 and decided to join me for a trip to Scotland, so he had to sit behind the C1 at a steady 60mph, which is a long ride from Lancashire to Applecross. Almost at the destination we had a choice of either going the long way round, or over my favourite road in the UK, the Path of the Cattle, which weaves up n over the mountain. The ride up was slow but coming down, I outran the DL1000 V-Strom, somehow managing 85mph - downhill!
It was hilarious.
And wherever we went, no one noticed his brand new bike, filks just wanted to photograph my C1!
Great days and I wish I still had one now. _________________ Kindest regards

Hi Shaun,
thanks for the comments about my aviation shots. You won't believe it but the vulcan shot was taken with my then ancient Canon G2, which was a 4 mega pixel, compact camera, which I used on manual settings and was really easy to just throw on the bike!
My very same camera was used to take shots that were published on the BBC News and by several newspapers and magazines! _________________ Kindest regards
