Any members on here with knowledge of these?
Got one that I've had a few years now to restore and never got it running because it had a missing cdi unknown to me, then I got a duff cdi from a well known importer which left me back to square one. It's just collected dust since then. Any thoughts anyone? |

Hi there Bride Fred, I have a problem with my 250 kat ign unit. It will only start if I switch on the ignition for at least 30 seconds before cranking it or warm the unit with a hair dryer. I managed to pull it apart but they are filled with glue and are difficult to inspect for any bad joints on the circuit board. There is a company in China I think that make copies but I dont know the web site,I have done a search on google and some one in in the US is converting Kawasaki units to work on the 400 kats which also work on the 250 even though they are different part numbers. Sorry I missed you at the show. You could try the uk Katana owners club as I know Fossy got a chinese one and it worked ok. |

Hi Andy, that's quite comical about warming the stroppy Ecu thing up. My auto electrician told me about a formula that should never be done with a sane mind until sheer anger arrives. He works on race bikes and works with someone who throws the thing with all his might as hard as he can against a concrete wall. Strangely the ecu's start to work after the minor 'special' service. Might just try your method first!
Unfortunately the bike is buried deep in the garage currently so there won't be an immediate result this week |

Everyone loved Andy's baby Kat (kitten?) at the show, including me, so it's definitely worth digging it out and getting it sorted. Looking forward to seeing some pics on here. |

You can't post pics directly, they need to be online somewhere already, then you include a link in your post. Sorry. Photobucket used to be the site where everyone hosted their pics, but that's all turned to crap now. |
