CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO ADJUST THE YPVS
Ihave just ridden my 2nd SDR & it seems to be a rocket compared to my other
On looking at the cable adjusters there seems to be a big differemnce as to where the are set between the two
a correct way of setting them would be a great help
thanks |

Not 100% sure it's the same as other Yamaha YPVS systems, but I'd be surprised if it isn't, I'll try to explain.
Remove the circular cap that's attached to the cylinder with 2 cap head bolts.
You'll see a rotor that has the 2 cables attached that come from the servo.
Keeping your fingers out of the way, turn the ignition on, so that the servo does its cycle and then turn the ignition back off.
There's a little cutaway on that rotor that should line up with a small hole behind it, in the side of the cylinder.
These should now line up. If they don't, adjust the cables until they do, making sure that there is a smidging of slack when finished in each cable, helps prevent unnecessary strain on the servo.
Keeping fingers out of the way again, turn the ignition on and wait for the cycle to finish again, to ensure it's still right, adjust again if not.
Hope that makes sense! _________________ www.taffmoto.co.uk for your replacement fairing panels |

Thanks for the info bobbyboy
I figured it was something like that
BUT BUT
When the motor is not running the slot in the pulley is stopped at 11 o clock whereas the hole in the cases is at 1 o clock?
when I rev the engine the slot & hole line up then the pulley slot returns to 11 o clock position
is that it ???
my ratty SDR which I have just put together seems to run & have more power than my good bike but i could just be me
thanks again |

That's not the correct setting, which will be why the power is restricted.
As above, switch it on, let the valve do its cycle, and then turn it off without starting it. That's the set up position, not whilst it's running or been running.
Once adjusted correctly, it will always line up as recommended above.
It will vary its position when it's running, sometimes lining up, sometimes not, depending on where it is in the rev range. _________________ www.taffmoto.co.uk for your replacement fairing panels |

Thanks again for your help
So if I switch the ign on & let it cycle the slot & hole should be lined up
Should it still be lined up when switched off
If so mine is nowhere close
I'll look at it again in the morning as its now dark & a bit late
Thanks |

Yes, if not, go through the procedure I posted earlier.
Should it still be lined up when switched off?
Yes, but only if you didn't start it after the initially switching it on.
If so mine is nowhere close
Thats why it's not giving you full power at the correct time. _________________ www.taffmoto.co.uk for your replacement fairing panels |

Thanks mate
It's 5am so a bit early for starting bikes
I'll give it a go in a few hours & let you know
My 2nd bike does not have a battery so I'll connect something & test that one because that seems to fly
I also noticed on my good bike that the front cable seems to be not sitting correctly maybe someone has been messing with it |
