				| The workshop manual says to remove the spark plug, slowly operate the kickstart lever, then measure the clearance between the adjuster pulley and the adjustment plate with a feeler gauge. Do this two or three times - the maximum gap obtained from these two or three measurements will be the existing minimum stroke. The specified minimum stroke is 0.15-0.20mm, so the existing shim can be replaced by one of different thickness if the existing minimum stroke is not within the range specified (Shim Part No.137-13137-00, various sizes). There is a warning that after any adjustment, the lock nut should be tightened securely and the measurement made again to confirm the minimum stroke is within specification.

This is not something I worry about - my SDR hasn't got the oil pump! However, I hope the above info eliminates any confusion surrounding the measurement and the specification
  .
 Regards,
 James
