Good to hear you're still with us Cal. Still no progress on my bike, hope to have a look tomorrow. It's embarrassing how little I've got to do now, and how little progress I'm making.
My bike had to wait over twenty years for me get on with it, I'm sure yours will be there and waiting when you have time. |
You are doing loads better than I am.
It's funny, back when this bike went into hibernation, I had no money but I had time. Now I am supposed to have both, but actually have neither. . |

I did get to spend a little time on the KH yesterday, but all I managed to do was write a new list of jobs:
Pass Switch not working, missing supply
Horn Switch not working, missing ground
Front Brake Light Switch not working, missing supply
Regulator / Rectifier Wiring to complete
Mount Flasher Unit
Mount Fuse Box
Instrument Lights, supply from tail light
Front Side Light, supply from tail light
Chain Guard Bracket, to make
Handlebar End Weight, nut dropped inside the bars
Not as bad as it first looks I know, but I must get a move on. _________________ Light is right. |

I hope a "broken" R1 doesn't mean it's been on it's side somewhere?
On the KH, good old Google... It seems that the earth for the horn is made by a clean area of metal on the switch gear casting making a connection with the handle bars, and the bars being earthed by the control cables, clutch and choke etc.
I're repainted my switch gear, so doubt there's any clean metal to connect to the bars, and because the chrome on my bars was so grotty, I wire-brushed the rust off and lacquered them to slow the rust's return. So no good connections there either.
I'll look at adding a direct earth connection to the left switch gear and try again. _________________ Light is right. |

The exhaust broke on the R1.
The weld cracked where the link pipe joins the silencer in front of the CAT.
I just need to get it apart and then get it welded, it's Ti which is known to crack at welded joints. I won't be welding it, needs a fancy TIG. |

My idiot neighbour has dug away his side ( the lower side on a slope ) of our garden wall. Despite being a professional landscape architect this is the latest in a series of building/garden **** ups. The wall has started to fall. So spare time will be even more precious.
Exhaust is off the R1. |

Hope the wall, the neighbour and the R! are all getting sorted out Cal?
Horn and Front brake light switch now working on my KH, Flasher Unit and Fuse Box are mounted. I'm heading the right way but it need a concerted effort to get it ready to ride to the Classic TT... _________________ Light is right. |

I'm making progress...
Pass Switch not working, missing supply
Horn Switch not working, missing ground - Done
Front Brake Light Switch not working, missing supply - Done
Regulator / Rectifier Wiring to complete
Mount Flasher Unit - Done
Mount Fuse Box - Done
Instrument Lights, supply from tail light - Done
Front Side Light, supply from tail light - Done
Chain Guard Bracket, to make
Handlebar End Weight, nut dropped inside the bars - Done
And the trip shows I've done 0.1 of a mile as well, that's one set of carbs worth of petrol. The bike hadn't been ridden with the new suspension or front brake so I wanted to see if there was anything really serious I needed to worry about, no problems found. _________________ Light is right. |

I've done half a mile with the KH250!
OK, I was pushing it. I've brought it home where falling over it all the time might motivate me to actually finish it.
Progress is being made, but I fear I've got to break the loom open again to finish the wiring. _________________ Light is right. |

Well a little progress, how long does it take to build a garden wall?
For Freaking ever, if your idiot 'landscape architect' neighbour who made it collapse in the first place objects to you rebuilding it unless it is done how he likes it then changes his mind about what he likes and causes two brickies to walk off the job.
I very nearly let him have a permanent supporting role as a foundation..... |

Well after, life got in the way again, I face a dilemma.
I am trying to decide if it is worth it to completely rebuild or move it on?
I have done good bits, but with the crank gone the rebuild cost will be very salty. |
