I am looking for a MBX80 for restoration if anybody has one? |
Saw an advert last week from a bloke selling a pair of them. Think it was in the latest Classic Mechanics magazine ? I'll see if I can find it. |
One of the bikes the guy had for sale was bought my brother, which included a load of spares also

Hi Dan
He paid £80 which I think is pretty good considering the amount of spares included. The guy lived about 70 miles from us, so not that far to travel.
My brother has recentley purchased a new malossi 110cc big bore kit (from ebay) which will be fitted to this restoration. |

Let us know how well this goes and what jetting changes you need to make. I might be tempted for the MTX. _________________ Alastair

nearly bought a mbx80 in 1987 £669 , had a mbx50 for a year when i was 16, a980rko black one, bunged mb5 wheels in it...dunno why now i think about it.
tts 65 kit and micron..still barely did 40
looked nice though.
wouldn't mind one again |

In the UK maybe, but in other countries, the 50 was offered in watercooled trim too. _________________ Alastair

as far as I can tell all 80's are water cooled. The UK spec machine (FWD) had a nose fairing, belly pan and twin disc's.
The EURO or probably German model had a headlight cowl like the 50 no belly pan and a single disc.
The Japanese Integra model had full fairing and a single disc.
The 50 was available with a water cooled motor for some markets, also with the nose fairing and belly pan so looked like an 80 (apart from the single disc). The MBX50 then evolved in to the NS50F with a new seat unit.
Interestingly HRC made a MBX based race machine called a NS50R.

Interestingly, early UK MBX50s came with 6-speed boxes too. There are a few water-cooled MBX50s that turn up on German eBay from time to time, and also on Yahoo Japan.
To further confuse the air/water-cooled issue, the MTX50R was also water-cooled, and looked just like the MTX80R, but in France they also sold this bike with an air-cooled single-speed motor and centre stand for 14 year-olds. Confused..?

I think the French MTX50 was an autobox as well. Anyone know?
First bike I had was an MTX50R. I currently use an MTX80R for the commute to work. Bought it as a wreck to restore and play with. Next thing I've ditched the car and commute on it _________________ Alastair

If you want a nice mbx80 you must come to holland.
All the 80cc models are nearly in holland(but honda NL has never put then on the market).
Look at www.marktplaats.nl en you wil find there at least 35,
one guy hass every model, starts by 400 Euro _________________ honda mvx |
