Not been out on it yet. I need to insure it and get it taxed first.
I know it looks fantastic in the pictures but it is a little rough around the edges as you'd expect for a 22 year old bike. I'll leave it as it is for the summer and then get to work on it over the winter. |

Thanks for the comments. I've ridden her a few times so far this year, not as much as I'd like but as often as I can. I've got a few or so other toys to play with so they all have to take they're turn.
Anyway the chance to take it to Brands arose last week so I thought I'd ride her to work the day before just to blow the cobwebs out. I noticed a rattling sound so once I'd got home I noticed a fairing bracket had lost it's retaining bolt. Not a big problem, however more concerning to me was the oil spread all up the side of the fairing. First thought was the engine had blown a seal but then I noticed there was oil all over the calliper and disc. Fork seal had blown big time. It annoyed me a little as it had not long had new seals fitted but then I surmised that the previous owner had probably used pattern seals from we too or somewhere similar rather than tried and trusted originals.
I also read this months PSM and they have a nice article on two strokes and tuning. Now my original plan was to get the bike back to as close to original condition as possible. Now however I fancy doing a little bit more to it and really getting the thing looking great but also riding great and going better. I don't want it tuned too much just a little bit more poke but what I really want is a solid motor that will last and not go bang.
So my question really is what should I look to do to her and how much roughly will it all cost? |
