Here are a few pictures of my recently restored Honda MB5. It's my original bike which I bought when I was 16 way back  in June 1980. It was purchased from Lockside Motorcycles, Castleford. Since then it has been fitted with a H100A engine, with was a common "go faster"  modification at the time. The bike is much more rideable with this engine and it enables me to keep up with the general traffic flow rather than wobbling  around in the gutter at 30mph.

Like you brother's MBX, that looks lovely. Saw a picture of one a few months back with genuine panniers 
Where did you get the genuine mirrors from?

that looks very much like a h100 engine to me, i've seen loads of this conversion?!?!?!

| The mirrors on my MB5 are not genuine (they should be black in colour) but are of a Honda style. They were purchased from M&P about 5 years ago. My brothers MBX80 mirrors are from a guy on german ebay, again they look period but are not standard. I would very much like to get hold of the standard MB5 panniers if any body out there knows any for sale |

I learnt to ride a geared bike on a MB5 at school! We used to have a lesson called road traffic studies, we had a camino & c50 but I always loved that little MB5!

Hi Dan
It's interesting to know that you learnt to ride on a MB5 at school. If you look on my web site home page at the "picture of the week" you will see a MB5 that was used exactly for that purpose at a private school in Scotland. |

| Big following in USA - I've also got an old 4T Honda and frequent the CB1100F.net forum - seems a lot of them cut their teeth on MB5's and will post ebay sales and rave on about them on a regular basis.....which I find kinda weird...but really most of them just love collecting Toys! |

Thanks for the comments lads, we were pleased with the article (although there are a few errors in there  ) we even managed to get the editorial picture as well.
Good issue for two strokes like you say, my cousin had the reverse cylinder TZ which predicatively siezed up on the motorway two up (he still loved it though  )
Bad issue for my mate as his XZ550 (he owns 3 of them  ) ended up in biking lemons 
Watch out for a feature on my brothers MBX80 which will appear in a later edition of the mag (possibly May -June)
We are taking the bikes to this weekend's Donington Event, so if you are going, come over and say hello  |

| You may has noticed already, but my brothers MBX80 is in this months (May edition) Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. Quite a good feature too, we seem to have been blessed with a good few two stroke features just recently. Well done Rod Gibson |
