Yes, there's usually another bolt inside the cap. I had this problem with my KR.
But the security expert who came to service our burglar alarm picked the lock for me in under 10 seconds. |

Well the SDR's are coming Friday so I've cleared a small space for them in the garage and jammed the other bikes in for the winter.
What tyres are you SDR owners using, michellin pilot sporty?? |

Black ones.
More specifically, the black ones that were fitted when we bought the bike 3 years ago. Whatever they are.
Can't get interested in tyres I'm afraid. |

No, they are very important...... they keep the bike from grinding away its wheels
What size are the rims on an SDR Ibby? |

Cheers, yeah a few odd bits on it, it has a strange rear light and different seatunit which is slightly longer.
Yeah both bikes have just been imported so unregistered. They will be here Friday morning so will upload better pictures of them.

Ok, so this is what ive got.
SDR 1. Complete and in reasonable condition, some strange add ons, which are going to be removed and adapted.
Few things that concern me, no key for the fuel tank and its empty, ive been down this route before, it usually means the tank is rotten inside, but will see.
And the forks have quite a bit of pitting, hopefully they can be buffed up and sorted.
The Engine turns over so hopefully a few hours work it should start or at least get some sort of attempt at starting.
This is it.
SDR 2: Is in poorer condition with the engine removed, on the plus side its totally standard apart from some hideous cow horn bars! the motor has been split and vapour blasted and is ready to be rebuilt.
Bad parts are the tank is rotten and has a hole one side and the frame is tarnished/and starting to rust in areas.
lots of time and money to be sent.

I like these a lot, can't believe how narrow the tanks are, what do the bikes weigh? |

105kg dry (if you believe Yamaha). I nearly bought one of these instead of the KMX200 back in 2001. I sat on it, I caressed it, I didn't take it home.
If I could go back in time, back to Elliott Motorcycles, I wouldn't make the same mistake again |

Yeah Yamaha claim 105kg all in, but I honestly don't know all I know is they are extremely light, lighter than any bike I've ridden in truth. |

They do go well!

Yes the the spare bike is totally complete with all the engine, rearsets and casings all vapour blasted ready to be built, it would be a shame not to get another one on the road. |
