Welcome to DS Steve - nice to see another SDR . . . they're great!
I used to have one and then sold it to another infamous DS'er (well I sorta stole it from under him at the time - apparently! ) At least both are in good hands!
Hope to see you & the bike sometime in 2013 Where are you based???? _________________ Bikes: www.diffrentstrokers.com

Nice bike.
I have two Sdr's both project bikes, and like you I'm collecting a few bits. I need a tank if you know of any around.
I'm looking forward to finishing mine in the summer, so will be watching your thread build closely.
Stick lots of pics up for me.

I'm in Oxfordshire.
I have one tank which is good and solid but the inside has been lined with some sort of stuff that's reacted to old fuel which is going to need sorting.
The other has a 3mm hole on the side which looks intentional not rusty and the bottom is pretty rusty inside but solid.
Been trying to source a good one for ages but I reckon I will resort to buying a Beater tank from Japan. |

Berriisford motors in Norwich has one in red, they used to have 3. It's listed for £2295 on eBay. They paid a lot less than that for it so you might get a deal on it.

Nice Bike steve, looks like the SDR's are increasing their presence on here. would love to see more pictures of your rebuild. I'm looking for a thermostat gasket for mine, where do you source your gaskets? Are you using DT200R items??? any info you have get it up on here.

I don't have a SDR200 (nearly bought one 10 years ago and have regretted it ever since) but I took the plunge and started making my own gaskets.
Other than head gaskets they are relatively simple to do. Take a look at the one I made for my KMX200.
I have even spent £3 on a set of Silverline leather punches to make better holes. I managed without but it is easier with. Just google "making your own gaskets". Simple and rewarding. |

I know the chap he bought them from, he had a Kenny Roberts Rep too. Think he paid about 1300 to 1500 tops.
Good luck. |
