|
|
I've been looking for an alternative to the Std AR125 Shock .. Looked at all sorts of alternatives with eye and fork ends with the biggest problem being the length of 330mm centre to centre..
Finally found something and given it a try, Z750 / ZR750 fully adjustable shock. It's the right length, generally way bigger but with a little adapting it has worked.
Yay !!
It's a mega tight fit. Needed 0.5mm skimmed from each side of eye and together with new lower suspension bushing it needed a couple of SS washers either side to fit and seal to bushing O rings at the base.
Fitted and left side panels off for a ride over the nearest speed bumps to give it a try...
And then I thought I would take it for a little blast out.... Well on such a sunny day, it would have been rude not too...
Suspension is softer than the OXON shock I took off, but it seems to work fine. It's nice when a plan comes together !! _________________ We are where we are... |

Only 3 years ago. ..I have almost forgot.
That's one of the things I like about this site.. old posts are a great aid memoire
I remember it being a very tight fit but not hard to do.
Reading the notes under the pictures it suggests the things I had to do to the shock to get it to fit.
It's still on the bike and going strong

Shocking update...
Here's the comparison between the AR50/80 and 125 shocks
AR125 is the longer one

Here's a couple of aftermarket alternatives sold as AR125 versions, OXON and YSS
They work OK but are both a little shorter than original which lowers the rear ride height by at least an inch. _________________ We are where we are... |

Finally... kawasaki 250SL has a shock that looks like it would fit as I measured one at Kawasaki Clay Cross on a bike there last week. Not tried this option yet.. Still investigating _________________ We are where we are... |

Hi Top-shaggy, re the SV650 shock did you road test it, just wondering if it felt to hard or not ? |

Works perfectly well. A lot better than an old standard shock and cheaper than a new Hagon.
If you want a new one then the only two available designed for the AR125 (as far as im aware) are Hagon (close copy of original) or Nitron (fully adjustable racing shock) _________________ We are where we are... |
