What tyres are you guys running on your SDR's I am tyring to order a set but the sizes are causing an issue. The best we can get is a set of Dunlops but the rear would need to be a 120 which I cant see being an issue for clearance. Any suggestions.

Hi,
I personally rides on road racing and track racing.
I have lots of possibilities.
With stock wheels:

Front: with the stock 2.15" rim: Dunlop KR 364: 85/80/17
slick tire: Dunlop kr 149: 95/70/17

Rear wheel: with the stock 2.5" rim: continental TKV 11 110/80/17, perfect grip, but hard to find, and it's a front tire, but doesn't matter regarding the wheight of the bike...

With an plug and play TZR 125 4FL rim or TZR 125 4DL rim 3.5"
you have a lot of choices!Razz but you should not get one over 125 width, because there will be a misfit with the front width's tire

here's an official international table to help you...

Sorry, it's in French. left :column tire width
Large column, divided in two: Rim width=> left: radial tyres
Right: diagonal tyres Wink

here's some modern really good tyres:
REAR: K63 100/90 - 17 M/C 55H TL will fit perfectly, and the 110/80 - 17 M/C 57H TL too
Also the K66 100/80 - 17 M/C 52H TL, but I don't think you'll need rain tyre Laughing

FRONT: K63 90/90 - 17 M/C 49S TT without hesitation!

You get all theses tyres with a racing compound, called RSW (racing soft Warm), that's just a killing choice...

Cheers for that, hopefully that information will turn up a result, if not I will just go with the Dunlop with the 120 rear.
Must be good fun racing the SDR, I saw a few in Japan fully kitted with RS125 running gear and looking very nice.

Has anyone experience with the Heidenau K40 Front / K39 Rear TT M/C combination - supposed to be very good for track. Been recommended by some classic racers for lightweights, I'm fitting a set to the TA125 rep but 18" rims. They are very reasonably priced too.

A quick internet search revealed some info on tyres. In each case, I tried to make sure I checked the maker's local (Australian) web-site, so I presume all of these will be available in Australia.

In the original sizes (90/80-17 front and 110/80-17 rear), the following matched pairs MAY be available:

Continental GO
Michelin Pilot Sporty
Sava MC18 (front size also available in Racing Soft compound)

Apart from the above, some other makers offered one of the sizes, but not the other. Anyone used the Continental, Michelin or Sava tyres on their SDR?

As far as I can tell, the SDR's wheel sizes are exactly the same as the TZR250 1KT series (using 100/80-17 front and 120/80-17 rear), so the wheels should accommodate these sizes of tyre. Anyone got any comment on using these sizes of tyre on the SDR?

Thanks & regards,
James

Whites Racing Products can normally get Bridgestone BT39SS.
They are available in 90/80 and 100/80 pair or 100/80 and 120/80 pair.
I would go for the narrower pair as I like faster steering.
I have used 90/80 with 120/80 on a street 1KT. Steered nicely.

I got Dunlop TT900 GP tyres in the end. 120 rear and 90 front. They look good but I haven't ridden the bike yet so can't comment beyond that.

Thanks for that Mark - the BT39SS didn't show up on Bridgestone's Australian web-site!

Whites Racing Products do their own importing and can get stuff that the others don't bring in.
