| Just been changing some weeping gaskets on the sdr, thermostat and water pump. Drained the coolant off into a clear container and flushed the radiator out. I noticed that I seemed to have some oily deposits in the coolant that came out. It has a bit of a petrolly whif to it. Any takers on how it got there? The oily coolant was most noticeable when I took the water pump cover off. |

Water pump seal, get it sorted quick as it may be allowing water the other way and if its not at the moment then it probably will do and our stroker bottom ends do not take well to water!

if the coolant smells of petrol then i'd be checking the head gasket.
If the water pump seal goes then coolant will flood the gearbox as the coolant system is pressurised and the gearbox isn't.

Thats a better conclusion than mine, has the bike been sat a long while though? Or used regularly? Either way get it checked before it gets really expensive!
