Hi Fazey,

that helps but exactly level, and square side on, would be the dogs!

Looking at mine it would seem a fairly simple job to make a simple L bracket to hold the fairing up. there aint no stress on it at all.
2 x 100mm x 15mm x 3mm strips of aluminium would do the job easily.

I've used separate brackets like that in the past and may have picture somewhere ... Nothing beats OEM though .. I will keep looking anyway Smile

Haha....
Your going to get a name as Mr Aluminium ...lol

Great stuff!

Think I made mine run from the inside of the frame bracket so they couldn't be seen ..but yours look so much simpler to make.. I would be happy with that Smile

Seems we should all come to yours, drink Kestrel and make stuff ..haha

Simple and elegant.

Hi Guys n Gals,

well I managed to find my old Oxford soft luggage and decided to try it on my trusty AR125.

I thought I was going to need to use some supports but finding zippered internal pockets in the panniers, I cut out out a couple of pieces of ply that I had sat in the garage and this gave perfect strengthening to them.

A few minutes with some removable cable ties and this was the result, so it looks like I'll be able to go Tiddler Camping later in the year.

Hi Guys n Gals,

a quick couple of questions re the standard exhaust that's fitted to my bike;

1, once the end piece has had the three securing allen headed bolts removed and the cap released, is there a way to remove the rest of the silver section of the silencer (to allow the rest of the exhaust to be repainted)?

2, what's the best paint to use on the exhaust? (I'm guessing VHT but my oven's not big enough for the exhaust to fit inside).

The Mk2 exhaust silver end can was not really supposed to be removable .. Removing the silencer end is for replacing muffler wool etc.

A lot of people seem to really like BBQ paint for the exhaust (B+Q) .. I like Wurth high temp. Non of them really copes with the hot front pipe very well when used in all weathers .. For a more permanent solution check out Ceramic black and chrome coatings.. These are in a different league, but they are expensive

Hi Guys n Gals,

well due to the head gasket, piston & barrel problems of late, I've not had the spare dosh to consider more cosmetic work but have still managed to get the replacement fuel tank powder coated in gloss black, along with the centre stand.

As you can see the result is way better than I hoped for. OK the tank still has a few prominent dings etc but looks a hundred times better than it did in the matt white scheme!

Here's the underneath, which was pretty rusty.

And here's the top.

And the left side.

And the right side.

Finally here's the stand which is no comparison to the original rusted condition.

Once I've got the engine parts back from Wolverhampton, I'll build her back up again and ride her gently, so I can ensure she'll be in fine fettle for the Classic TT in August/September.

Hi Fazey,

there's a few small dents in the tank but it's much better than the original.

As for the decals, well I reckon I'll see if I can get a supplier to do them in silver and gold, and to spray the rest of the panels in gloss black with silver and gold decals.

I'll then run her as she is until the Winter, then I'll strip her down again, all the way to the frame and get it powder coated in gold, to match the decals and the swinging arm, leaving the silver to catch the chrome of the end can and the fork legs.

What do you reckon with this choice?
