Hi Guys n Gals,

Sunday off, time to spend some quality tinkering time on the tiddler, now that the replacement piston and rings have arrived.

Goes outside and it's not raining - fabulous start to the day.

Tried the piston rings and they fit beautifully to piston - things are looking good.

Brings the Kawasaki out and fitted the new base gasket - excellent.

Fit the first cir-clip to the piston - yippee.

Test fit to small end bearing - absolutely spot on.

Try to fit the bearing to the con-rod - FFS, it's the wrong friggin' size!

How these parts people sleep in their beds is totally beyond me!

Bastards.

So I got my measuring device out and found the original was 19mm across and the new one 20mm, but with the correct internal size. So to the eye it looked right but didn't stand a chance of fitting.

E-mail being sent to the parts suppliers.

To say I'm not impressed is an understatement, especially as they're supposed to be one of the best 2 stroke suppliers in the UK.

The biggest problem I have is time, as I don't honestly think that I'll have the time to get the correct parts, fit them and do a 500 mile running in period before I go to the TT.

The only good thing that's happened today however was Fazey providing me with links to the supplier of his headlamp and mountings, so orders placed!

Hi Guys n Gals,

as we had all guessed, the right part numbers were on the boxes but the wrong contents. Let's see how long it takes for the replacements to arrive eh?

On a different matter, has anyone fitted LED indicators to an AR125 yet and, if so did you need to purchase one of those resistors to correct the flash rate? I ask as I reckon I'll replace mine with something that I don't walk into, every time I'm going through the garage!

Hi Fazey,

thanks for that. Do I need one per indicator (as the website seems to show) and do I need to do anything with the indicator warning lights on the dash?

Hi Guys n Gals,

well thanks to the like of Shaun and Fazey, along with others who kindly provided advice and suggestions, the engine on my AR125 now has a nice new piston in place.

Then with O-rings in place.

Then with the polished head and radiator back in place.

I then swapped the nose fairing and headlamp but the supplied wiring was a bit naff.

But with a bit of initiative, I managed to replace the stock 35/35 bulb with the original H4. I hope it doesn't run too hot for the lens?

And here it is in place.

Then some dinky little LED indicators were fitted front.

And rear.

A temp fuel tank was fitted to allow a test run, she started 8th kick and quickly settled to a nice idle.

Just awaiting an inline fuel filter to arrive, along with a replacement fuel sender (as the original started to leak) and I'll be able to run her in again.

So again it's a big thank you to all.

Regards

Reggie

Hi Guys n Gals,

so after the leaking fuel sender unit, I ordered a replacement (2nd hand) from E-bay and, yes you've guessed it, that one also leaked!

Bollox.

So there's now no time to get a replacement and to run her in before the TT, so I'll be taking the CCM instead.

The purchase of a new part will have to wait until the holiday expenses have been sorted out, so I'm taking a bit of a break from Team Tiddler.

Hi Fazey,

I'm working odd shifts at the moment so don't have the time now to faff about and run the bike in by next Saturday, so the Tiddler will have to wait until next year.
