Hi Guys n Gals,
thanks to a heads up from my local airfield FISO's I had a chance to shoot a mighty Chinook helicopter last night and what a sight she made.
You couldn't even see the aircraft when it was 50m away, as it was total darkness but with a bit a strategic switching on of some security lights, and the juggling of a couple of the fire crew's vehicles, I managed to grab some shots.
What a beast.
Not something you see everyday.
Regards

Hi Howie,
cheers matey. It's amazing what you can get with 30 second exposure times!
As for getting a Chinook, if you saw the maintenance and fuel bills, you're decide on a works Honda MotoGP bike as being a far cheaper alternative!
We've got another Chinook that came in a couple of weeks a go and has 'gone tech', so it's being stripped down ready to leave by road transport. With a bit of luck I'll be shooting that aircraft on Wednesday evening - unless it's gone before I can return.
Regards

30second exposure? WOWZERS
Closest I've ever got to that was when I switched from 100 to 400 film speed... Those where the days _________________ We are where we are... |

I used to love photography, not so much taking pictures but developing them.
I had my own dark room with all the equiptment & chemicals. I would spend hours in it.
Then I saw what a proper professional could do & gave it up
May explain my fascination with metal finishing? |

Hi Shaun,
as you'd expect I turned the ISO down to 100, where as most people would've expected me to use 6400 etc but for me the quality of the image is paramount and I'd rather take a shot at a slower speed (should conditions allow it), than lose definition.
Thanks for your kind words
Regards

Hi Howie,
yeah I used to have my own darkroom but converted fully to digital in 1999 and have never looked back.
