No doubt you're all currently drowning in emails from various companies and bodies who now require your explicit consent to hold on to your personal details, with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation next week.
How does that affect this forum ? It doesn't. The only details we hold on you are those you enter when you complete the new member registration form. They comprise your username, password, email address plus anything else you optionally choose to enter (location, occupation, interests etc). Your passwords are encrypted (so even we can't tell what they are) and most of you have specified a username that does not reflect your true legal identity.
All of this is stored in our database and accessible by no-one except the Administrators (which is me, and very occasionally one other person). We don't share any of it with anyone in any way, and we never will.
We don't have any mailing lists or newsletters, and the only emails you'll get are those the forum generates when your membership is approved or when someone sends you a private message. You can edit your profile to change this notification setting, to change or remove details you previously entered, and also to hide your email address, online status etc.
So, nothing changes. If you disagree with any of this, please let us know ASAP and we'll delete your account so that you disappear from the database. |
