Hi Guys, its been a while, but now were into the new year, spending has recommenced!!!
The crank has been rebuilt, new gearbox bearings AND shafts. I've had a go at spraying 2K paints to spruce up the engine. Having bought a nice compressor off the bay, I made a blast cabinet and bead blasted my stripped down engine, painted in 2K etch, then a factory looking Satin Blue/Grey paint. Also have repainted the front brakes....
I love the results......
A peek at the gears.....
As a practice subject for my painting skills (or lack of...) was this Honda SS50 tank for my brothers restored 'ped.
I wanted a classic Honda Racer from the 60's look. The tank was a tenner off the bay and in a right state.....

A LANDMARK!!
Finally....I have fitted the engine.....well, bottom end at least.....re-united after 18 months apart!!
I feel a celebration coming on.....
I chose not to fit the complete engine as its lighter/easier this way and ( I hope...lol) I can fit the top end after the rebore is completed....Fingers crossed all continues to go well....Don't it look luverly!!??

Simoniz Heat Proof Motorcycle Paint. Got it from D&K while I was there last week, tho I've used THIS with equal results in the past....listed as SPEREX/SIMONIZ but a different tin to the one I'm using!? _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!

Made more progress this week, was hoping to get it running this weekend, but checking out the electrics, I can get a spark.
Also, it seems the battery has died during its lay up!! It wont hold more than 8 Volts on a recharge....Typical!!!
Anyway, this is how it looks at the mo.....
I dont think the pics do it justice, either!! They certainly can't convey the pride and satisfaction I get from it so far....
Getting the carbs/airbox on was a right bitch!!! Wudda been alot easier with nice new supple airbox/carb rubbers, mine (at 0ver 23 years young!) were rock hard!!!
Thats for the compliment, cant wait til its done myself...lol
Can anyone advise on the power valve cable fittment? Reading the manual don't explain, but looking at how the motor works the top cable of the motor goes to the top of the power valve itself, however, photo's in the manual show the cables crossing over?! The bike as I dismantled it wont be of any help.....19 former keepers have had plenty of opportunity to balls it up, in fact the motor drive gear was broken suggesting that may have been the case!! _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!
