Hi Wullie,
Oops, posted it in the wrong thread first time...
Who knows what's what with these bikes. The data I have on power outputs and CDIs is from http://www.froos.com/3xv.htm
This says that 93 onwards they were all 40HP, and that the 93 bike used the 3XV-60 CDI. I've not had mine on a dyno or anything like that, it just seemed to rev cleanly a little further up the range with the -00 CDI, before it hit that funny power plateau, than it did with the -40 CDI.
The -00 only cost me a tenner anyway so if nowt else, I've got a spare.
I think that some of the confusion came about because the 92 RS was released late in the year, so most of the sales must've been in 93. So do they have a 45HP or a 40HP CDI...? _________________ Light is right. |

Hello again, Arlurt.
Both 3XV4 & 8 YAMAHA brochures claim 45ps @ 9,500 with -40 CDI listed in
parts manual for just those two models. I've got 15 / 38 tooth sprockets on
order from B & C Express, so once fitted I'll work my way up to finding where
my bike "plateaus", and if the speed limiter is still working. Only had it up to
indicated 160 Ks briefly, ( yer Honour ). Engine was indicating at least 10,000
in top at that speed! It's perfectly possible to have same Pt.No. CDIs perform
slightly different. Anyhoo, enough of my boring waffleing. Weather up here is
lousy again, strong wind & heavy showers, so won't get out on bike tonight .
Meant to be better at weekend, hope so. Question for you, do you have an
8 degree advance offset woodruff key for the timing rotor. Saw thread about
them on TZR 3XV forum. They delay effect of CDI over retarding at high RPM
I'm not sure if I would have to jet up slightly if I made one up, ( off-set is 1.2 mm for 8 deg. advance ). Havn't been able to register on TZR forum, as it's
been switched off for a while now, to ask this very question.
Bye for now, Wullie. P.S. Sent PM with an address for CD, thanks. _________________ Just when I'm about to make ends meet, somebody moves the ends ! |
