|
|
Hi guys, now my RG250 is approching being run in, I've discovered (now I can rev it to 7,600 RPM or more) that the power valve is not working! I have a spare control unit which I tried, which made no difference, so I lifted the tank and plugged in another power valve servo, which failed to work with either control unit!
So I started to check out the restances of the control unit as per the manual, there appears to be a problem there, as several values dont meet spec.
I have read on some RG500 sights (the control unit (and servo for that matter)is the same for both bikes) that the control unit is very reliable.....so whats the chances of having two duds? Continuity between the control unit and servo is fine....no broken wires. A new control unit is available for £300!!
Does anyone have any experience with these, or have a known working one on a shelf some where , so the test values can be compared to the manual?
Thanks for reading this far, guys. _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!

The servo is the same for the RG 250 and the RG 500.
Same partnumber.
Not sure about the control unit.
I have the same problem
also (in my case) 3 faulty control units.

I've just tested the servo as per the manual, and that's fine (my spare one seems to be junk! I tested that too) however the control units are giving loads of out of range readings, and both differ from each other....looks like I have two duff ones! Bearing that in mind, and that Erik already has three broken ones himself, that suggests that buying used is a lottery! They are £300 new.....I just checked, they do differ from RG500 units (20A Part Number, the 250 is 40A), they may operate at diff'rent revs, 7,600 for the 250 and 7,300 rpm for the 500? That MAY be typical internet mis-infornation tho....lol
Thanks for the info Erik, knowing how many faulty units exist makes me feel more confident that the ECU is the problem.
I've just rang Robinsons Suzuki and they have the unit in stock and have done me a most awesome discount, in part because I've spent £1200 with them already, over the last 3 years!! I should have it on Thursday!! Fingers crossed my diagnosis is correct....if not I'll have a cheap control unit for you Erik!! _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!
