Has anyone ever removed the alloy castings (for calipers/wheel spindle) off the ends of the fork sliders?
I want to powder coat them, there is a small torque screw on the side, but I dont want to damage them trying to remove the castings.
Any help appreciated. |

I have removed them on some RGV USD forks - Its not easy, lots of heat, WD40 and much swearing. You can probably get it powder coated without taking it apart. |

Thanks for that, I thought they may be pressed, bonded, and maybe just had small screws to secure.
I think I might coat them as is, like you suggest.
Hows the new CDI working out?
Sorry, Simon here who sold it to you |

Have not fitted the CDI yet - waiting for the better weather.
The fork tubes on the RGV have a fine thread into the bottom bracket which is covered in thread sealing compound and a small hex screw on the inside. I don't really think they are meant to come apart once originally fitted. |
