Mrs.StrokerBoy has been after a TDR50/80 for a while. We've been close to getting one a few times but it's never worked out for one reason or another.
Until now. Picked up this 80 a couple of weeks ago. Taxed, 12 months MOT. Watercooled 2-stroke single. 10bhp according to the brochure. 90kmh feels a lot faster on 12" wheels.
It's pretty tatty and needs some TLC and new plastics but we'll make it right over time.

Yeah, we saw it. We know how much he paid for it 2 years earlier and it was nowhere near that much. All he's done is put a numberplate on it. I don't mean register it, I literally mean just screw a numberplate off another bike to it. We were interested but we walked away when we realised how dodgy it was... |

Time for an update. This is the bike as we bought it 3 years ago. It had an MOT and ran OK but every single bit of bodywork was cracked, broken or missing. It had been living outside for a while and looked like it.
We kept it on the road but did nothing to it. Then earlier this year Jim from PS magazine asked if he could borrow it for a Gag feature, so I hastily tarted it up by peeling some stickers off, fitting a used fairing panel from Yahoo Japan and giving it a quick blow over with a white rattlecan. Looked presentable in their photos, in the June 2012 issue.
Shortly afterwards, Simon Francis (mate, bike nut, engineer/restorer) had a quick squirt on it and said he'd love to strip it and tidy it up. So we called his bluff. A week later he sent me this pic.
And last week we got it back. Ace innit ?
Every single bit has been cleaned, painted, plated, polished or replaced. ImageWorks made me the decals, Andy at Webbs supplied gaskets, I got a new front tyre, numberplate and the essential yellow fork gaiters off Ebay, and the local car upholstery shop recovered the seat.
Haven't been able to find a new screen for it anywhere, so if you know of one please let me know. Might get the seat re-done too as it's not quite the right colour and needs the YAMAHA logo on it. But we're very happy with it. So much so, I might have to get another 250 to go with it...

The logo on the seat.....my bro did his Honda SS50 himself. He made the HONDA stencil st work, and bought some vinyl paint, in a rattle can off ebay. Looks factory done, excellent _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!

Yeah, we tried that, it's why there's no photo of the left hand side... |

What went wrong with the stenciling? My bro made his from sticky back vinyl, made sure it was clean, and built the logo up in several light layers to avoid any paint creep along the textured grain of the seat cover _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!

That looks stunning Tim, and a very nice collection you've got there too, nearly a fulll set, you just need to get Darins YSR off him. |
