Sorry, tried to check this out on the SDR for you today but can't get the YPVS end-cap off. Embarassed

Tightened up the head bearings, bled both brakes, added the missing bolt that keeps the headlight steady and went for a ride. Only 25kms, because although it was dry and sunny at home, it was pissing down and cold only a few miles away. Rolling Eyes

Filled up with fuel ready for Cadwell. Discovered that you should never brim the tank - fuel started squirting up out of the filler-cap keyhole when I closed it. Shocked

Listen, no worries it sounds like you have got other problems!. I tried testing another servo on friday and got the same results so i am happy it's not the servo. Going to turn my attention to possibly cdi or YPVS controller. Also i need to double check all wiring and connectors. The last resort may be to beg one of you two on here to let me plug my units into one of yours to find out which part is at fault.
I know the cdi is 2tv only but are the ypvs controllers all the same apart form plug connectors, so say would a 350 ypvs controller work on mine??

Have fun at Cadwell!!!!

No words required...

The head is recoverable, the one on my 3XV "R" engine was worse that that when I got the bike, a friend cleaned up the chanber and faced the head mating surface to recover the compression using a lathe and all was well.

Has it broken a piece out of the edge of the transfer port?

Were the pieces in the exhaust or still in the cylinder?

I'll see you tomorrow anyway...

Oh dear!

Correct me if i'm wrong but that cylinder looks like its got a cast iron liner in it to me

If thats the case it might need a new liner putting in to salvage it.

Can you bring the barrel to cadwell tomorrow for a closer look tim?

So the cylinder that's eaten itself is a 3MA-00 one with a liner fitted. Rolling Eyes

Not much chance of finding a proper 3MA-20 one to replace it with is there ? Hen's teeth and all that. Crying or Very sad

Ta-daaa ! Very Happy Thanks to maccas (and others) for pointing me at these - they're damaged but a much better starting point than what I had.

I do believe that the damage was caused because you were lean, those racing pipes you got need very carefull jetting.

Anyway the good news is that you found 3ma20 barrels so you're not very far away from your goal now.

I've noticed that your bike has stock 3ma4 rear tail and tank but the front fairings look either refin or fitted from 3ma1.
Another oddity is that you bought the bike with a regular front suspension, all SPs have upside down forks like a 3ma3.

Your cylinders were 3ma00?

Also whats your cdi? It reads 3ma20?

Let me know if you need any help rebuilding it mate Very Happy

I never fitted those race pipes, I gave them to another 3MA owner. Mine's always had stock SP pipes.

I didn't buy it new ! It has an aftermarket fairing painted in a non-standard paintjob. It also had a RWU front end which I've since replaced with a USD one, a mix of 3XV, 3MA, FZR and TZR125R parts.

RH barrel is 00, LH is 20. CDI is 20, as is airbox, heads, rear-wheel, swingarm and all the other SP-specific bits.

Ta. I've not done anything with it since I got it home, it's sat under a sheet in the 'naughty corner' of the garage. If I had the space, I'd love to completely strip it and take my time rebuilding it properly. Got too many other things on though, so for now I'm pretending it doesn't exist. Sad

Well, it's gone. Not done anything to it since it went pop a year ago. Agreed to sell it a while back though and the new owner picked it up this afternoon.

It's got a much brighter future now than it had with me to be honest, and I suspect you'll be seeing it pop up on here again soon with all the problems sorted and some impressive dyno printouts. Wink

First bike I've sold in 8 years, feels a bit odd... Crybaby
