hi
i'm new to this site but have been viewing for a few months now,it is a good source for contacts and help.i've got 2 walter wolf rg250 mkIII's one has fantastic front brakes but they start to bind and eventually stop the bike.
The calipers have been rebuilt by the previous owner who also fitted braided hoses.This problem is intermittent as i have done 50 miles on it no problems one day but yesterday only got about a mile away before brakes stopped the bike,thought engine was siezing at first.
Any thoughts you RG experts.
The other one is not so tidy but go's better but the brakes are not very good the lever nearly touches the bar before much happens,i have bled them but no change.

Hi wolfman,
Do you know if the previous owner replaced the seals (oil & dust)? In both calipers & if so how long ago were they done?
Do the brakes get worse if you leave it a long time between rides?
The other bike (not so tidy one) may have a problem with the master cylinder or the calipers themselves. I would recommend taking the lot apart & starting again!
The simplest thing to do, is remove the calipers & clean them, check to see if there is a build up of white dusty looking crap around the pistons. If not pop them back on & see if the clean up has worked. If you find a build up of crap, then you may have a small leak on the caliper (check the fluid level in the master cylinder)
Are you confident with mechanics? If not get an expert to look at them.

If your calipers are in a sorry state inside with pitted pistons
You still can get a new genuine Suzuki piston / seal set.
They are not cheap but available
Wich WW models do you have?
RG 250 EW-3W first WW
RG 250 EW-4W available in blue and grey
RG 250 EWWH JDM only (Mk4) |

Hi
thanks for the replies,the calipers where rebuilt by the previous owner OLIVERS DAD a regular on this forum.I think he replaced seals and pistons so these maybe aren't the problem,it seems the higher the temp outside the worse the problem is.I did drain some fluid out of the master cyl just in case there was no room for expansion.My dad who is an old fashioned mechanic said it sounded like the pressure wasn't being released after the brake was applied,but he only works on vintage and cassic vehicles so maybe not relevant.

Looks like you have the 2nd WW model
RG 250 EW-4W was also available in grey/silver
Don't know about black.
According to the Japanese partsbook the frame number should be.
GJ21B-112346 - - GJ21B-119553
Your dad could be right
Take a closer look at the master cilinder
There is a very small hole in the reservoir that lets the fluid go back into the reservoir when you release presure
If thats blocked the brakes will bind...

Remove the cap to the master cylinder, you will find, at its edge a small hole that leads via a drilling/passageway to another hole hidden under the stainless steel diaphragm plate riveted to the caps underside. Ensure this breather is clear, as the fluid gets hot, it expands so needs to displace air....if that breather is blocked, the air becomes pressurised, unable to escape. Take it for a run til the brakes bind, then slacken off the cap and see if releasing air free's the brakes off. _________________ Breathing new life into an old Gamma!

I'm off to stafford on sun so will visit the stand and admire your rg its the colour i always wanted and will get one day even if it means selling the walter wolf.

hi all
Just been out on the wolf to check brakes everything seems ok after stripping calipers and cleaning out master cyl . Thanks everyone for your help .
Now need to get fairings repaired again and then put back together.
Has anyone bought a rear seat cowl from classic racer replicas i'm in need of one and don't seem to be able to find genuine one ,any colour would do.
Just had my wheels powdercoated, it looks alot better and will be easier to clean aswell.
I am thinking of restoring the other walter wolf but doing it in standard colours the same as crofty's does anyone have any uk clocks and do they also have a fuel gauge?.
I am also looking for l/h bellypan, l/h frame cover under seat and top fairing these can be any colour but must be reasonable condition , 1 or 2 cracks no problem as long as no bits missing.

I am also trying to build a WW
But then the first model
Most off the fairing pieces do turn op on Yahoo Japan.
Its absolutely not cheap but it seems impossible to find them anywhere else
The seat cowl you want has been on Yahoo several times.
even new ones.
Bellypan is difficult
sidepanels are available
topfairing in good shape are also not easy
There is a brand new one for sale (first model) but very expensive.
Workes out around 500 Euro to get it on my doorstep
Too much for me........
The fuel gauge is for as far as i know only on JDM Rg's.
There are white clocks with the fuel and temp gauge same as the WW ones and they are also available but again not cheap
And the needle that should be orange is in most cases badly discolored into yellow/ white.
They have much sunshine in Japan and they use salt on the roads aswell.
Lots of rust available.

Only the Japanese market bikes have combined fuel/temp gauges I think, UK spec bikes only have temp gauge.
The Tamiya model you mentioned is blue ( it is very dark) don't think Suzuki did a blaclk Walter Wolf version. They did two different blue/red versions and a rather nice light green one! Japan got 400 and 500 RG's in Walter Wolf colours too....lucky them!
I got a brand new single seat hump for a Walter Wolf model a while ago on evilbay - cost a fortune! but it's the other WW paint scheme to yours, I bought it to have painted red and grey, so they do pop up now and again! keep lucking. ( Mine needs the long thin bum pad - if anyone has one any colour please let me know ).

Hello Rob,
There are 3 different WW RG 250 models
First RG250 EW-3W only in dark blue
second RG250 EW-4W in blue and champagne/grey
third RG250 EWWH in dark blue (Mk 4)
The combined gauge is only used on the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market)
