That looks brilliant, i cant compare it to the original but it looks factory, seeing your build makes me wonder if you want to finish mine next!

Come on guys, you're making me blush. I've said many times on here that the camera wears rose-tinted lenses, and they'll be needed if ever I manage to finish this project.

Another slow day today, sanding off the yellow paint I applied twenty years ago. I've been cleaning the yellow paint off the front mudguard so I can re-spray in white to match the other bodywork. Also made an alloy plate to fit inside the fibreglass front mudguard so I can fasten it on properly, and to support the front brake pipe. It was all held together with over-size penny-washers before, and the cracked glass-fibre couldn't take it any more.

The plate goes up inside the mudguard to pick up on the fork mounting holes and the brake pipe support hole you can see drilled in the mudguard.

Two coats of primer, one of gloss in a very cold garage. I think it's sleet out there!

Shhhh....! As we head up to bed, the mudguard has sneaked in to the house and snuggled up on the radiator. At least it'll harden properly overnight so I can handle it to fit the alloy brackets and mark it up for the fork leg mounting holes.

Hope the lounge isn't too smelly in the morning.

Been quiet hasn't it...

I have been doing stuff, messin' about with the alloy plates that fasten the front mudguard to the fork-legs. Both plates are rough-made now, I need to refine them a little and then take it all apart for final paint.

Now I know where the fork-leg mounting hols go in the plates I have relieved the mudguard around them to look as thought it's meant to be like that, rather than the mudguard simply being cracked and bodged, and the alloy plates being an obvious repair. We'll have to wait and see if I've pulled off that particular trick.

Now I know it all fits I can take it apart, paint, lacquer, and back together forever.

Very Happy

I really must learn when to put the spray can down.

Looks like I've put the lacquer on with a trowel and got the mother and father of all runs. Ah well, flat it down and start again.

The brackets have come out well, maybe I should make everything Matt Balck. Rolling Eyes

I've had another go at the mudguard, and as I've said before about other parts, it'll do. White is a wonderfully forgiving colour. Wink

The brake pipe and clip will hide the crack nicely, I'll get it all bolted to the bike later today.

Front mudguard done and fitted.

I'm happy with that.

Now for anyone who thinks I should be riding it about soon. here's a view of the other side.

I need to get my wiring head on and sort this lot out.

I've also got to replace that super-long motocross rear shock with the CBR125 road item I've bought and decide if I'm going to run it on the shock linkage or direct as Honda intended.

Plenty to keep me busy there.

At the pace you're going, you've probably got about 20 minutes of work left there Laughing

Another job I've been putting off is the repairs and painting of the tail piece.

I could tell by the swollen joints that there was rot in the tail piece and wasn't looking forward to tackling it.

I've had a go tonight, and found filler in both sides already so I've cut out what was loose and un-sound with a wire brush on the angle grinder and re-filled.

I hate filler. Sad
