Hello,
I've got a KH250 rotting in my shed, it probably last ran about 15years ago.
I'm going to try and get it going.
I was pointed in this direction for help and advice.
Has any one got one?

Not any more, though my old bike is owned by someone on here and I've got first dibs on buying it back.
They're pretty simple, all you need is fuel, sparks and a bit of compression. Ignore all those people who'll tell you the crank seals will have gone. At least for now.
Can't remember if you even need a battery. See if you get sparks at each plug, stick a gallon of fresh fuel in, and get kicking !
Fuel system will need cleaning but see if you can get a sign of life out of it first.
And get a photo up.
Oh, and welcome. |

I bought one a few years back that had been sitting for 21 years and never started. The guy had been spraying WD40 on it every now and then to keep it kind of protected but it was not covered. I didn't even clean the carbs just put fresh fuel in, hooked up a battery and it fired on two after a few kicks. The third pot didn't run because there was WD40 after getting behind the points and stopped them from earthing. That bike is still running original crank seals and all. They sound nice but slow as _________________ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ |

Well it has taken a long time, life events sometimes get in the way, but I pulled her out today. She won't turnover so I am guessing she has seized. I have stuck some plusgas down the plug holes.
I will try and make progress a bit more soon. |

I made a start on my KH250 a couple of weeks ago. Like yours it's been stood for more than 20 years.
It was "seized" too, but after a squirt of WD40 in each pot, and a day or two to stand, it was freed off with a spanner on the generator nut. Now turning over nicely with compression and everything.
Wheels are out at the moment to sort brakes and tyres, and to scrape some of the rust off. Forks are pitted so they'll have to be sent away to be sorted.
You'll have to post some pictures of your bikes to keep me going. _________________ Light is right. |

The strip down is going OK
Old tyres gone, forks are resisting me but I'll get them, and the wheels have cleaned up better than I expected.
The handlebars have also cleaned up better than I thought they would. They're to be combined with a Honda clutch lever and pivot, Honda brake master and calliper, and a Yamaha floating disk. I'll have to make a new calliper carrier to get everything lined up and an adapter/spacer to fasten the disk to the Kawasaki hub. The left fork slider that had the Kawasaki calliper forward of the fork leg moves the the right of the bike to carry the calliper behind the fork leg. The wheel hub is drilled and tapped for a disk on either/both sides.
The forks are a bit sad, pitted and rather bent. They'll be sent away for straightening and re-chroming.
I had a ride out to my local bike shop today to get fork seals and tyres but they're closed until New Year. I'll have to amuse myself in other ways until then. _________________ Light is right. |

Seem like a good deal to me, especially if available and a straight swap _________________ We are where we are... |

I was going to get these for mine but happened across a set of good forks for little cash. From what I've been told they are good quality _________________ I was never as fast as I used to be !!! |

The forks are booked in, a longer turn- round than I'd like but I will get mine back rather than an exchange pair. Tyres, new front inner tube and fork seals ordered. I've got the alloy plate to make the new calliper carrier for the Honda front brake calliper, and a chunk of 100mm round alloy to make the disk spacer.
It all seems to be coming together nicely. _________________ Light is right. |

The fork tubes have gone to Philpot's Chrome in Luton for straightening and re-chroming. New tyres collected on Friday and fitted over the weekend, I'm a little disappointed with the "classic" tread pattern, they look like something off grandad's trials bike. Brake caliper bracket manfacture under-way.
I now need to get the rest of the bike cleaned up and start looking at the wiring loom. I also need to start thinking about paint and colour schemes. _________________ Light is right. |

I know it is glacial progress but I put the KH on the workbench today.
I can't seem to post images.
First job will be a clean, then an attempt to get her to turn over.

You can't upload pics direct to here, you need to have them online somewhere already. See HERE. |
